As you may know, today marks the tenth anniversary of Linkin Park's debut album, Hybrid Theory.

The bands collective experimental mindset had already helped them achieve a sound that they were proud of. It was a new and exciting blend of several different styles of music and was boosted even further by some stellar lyrical content depicting an insight into various different emotional journeys.

However, as the story goes, this exhilarating new form of music was turned down time and time again by all major labels and industry personnel. It seemed that no one felt that Linkin Park had what it took to make it in the industry...they were dead wrong.

Ultimately, determination proved to be the catalyst for success as the band did not give up their dream of getting their music out to the masses. They were finally signed to Warner Records after years of frustrating rejection and a decade ago today, Hybrid Theory was released. The album would go on to top charts and sell over 20 million copies worldwide, including 10 million in the US alone (giving the album diamond certification) despite receiving mixed reviews. The singles, One Step Closer, Crawling, Papercut and In The End would dominate singles charts worldwide with the latter reaching an impressive number 2 in the US.

The album exceeded all expectations and to this day is one of the most impressive and most successful debuts in recent times. We here at the Linkin Park Association would like to say congratulations to the band on this landmark anniversary and thank you to all the fans whose support helped this album set the tone for the band's careers!

It came out when I was 6. Do I win? EDIT: Henry wins I guess

Really wish I would have known the band for all 10 years. This is my second favorite album of all time (Thanks to ATS). But anyways, congratulations Linkin Park. Now the question is if the band even acknowledges it haha. Maybe a blog post...

I'm the one who wins. Hybrid Theory came out when I was 4, and I accidentally get to listen to it when I was 12, 2 years ago.

I was 14 and I hated the album when I first heard it. I was dating this girl named Laura who's dad was a hardcore Marine Corps lifer and loved rock. He took us both to see Linkin Park live. After that, I was hooked as a fan. I never took that CD out of my little portable player. Rocked that thing while riding the school bus daily. Long live Linkin Park!

Same here. I HATED HT when I first played it. I only liked In the End and Pushing Me Away. The screaming/heaviness took a while to grow on me haha.

I love it when I first heard it, that's the first CD I've ever bought without knowing who exactly the artist it. Actually when I first heard MTM, I was thinking "WTF?", and time went by it became one of my most favourite album.

Hybrid Theory. one of the GREATEST debut albums of all time.

It was a shame i was too young to apreciate it when it came out. (being 10 at the time, & not really interested in buying albums yet) it took me 4 years, but i eventually heard it and loved it ever since.

I doubt my teen years would have been the same without it :)
