[random fact]Session was used on 'Football Focus' this morning[/random fact] no Premiership football this weekend BUT that mean there must be an England match soon right! (Tuesday I think?) http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=293874&cc=5739 I'm a fan of Hartlepool United and we've had some dreadful home form so far this season. Before today's game we had conceded 15 goals (at home) and one away! work that one out if you can? I certainly cant! our lowly league position was down to the fact that we were picking the odd point up on the road! Today's game didn't look good for us as we took on Peterborough United (who have a nasty habit of scoring lots of goals) so you can excuse me for having relatively low expectations for the match! HOWEVER a different Hartlepool United turned up today, and it was refreshing to see. We were able to hold 'Borough for large sections of the game and we took the lead just before half time. 1-0 [we won the first half!] Second half began and we were slow to get out of the blocks (as per usual) and it looked like 'Posh' might grab an equaliser. We managed to keep them at bay and frustrate them (which resulted in one of their lads getting a straight red for his efforts to win the ball) it stayed the same right until the 90th minute as our centre back/ central midfield player struck a clean shot from outside the box low past the diving attempts of their keeper. 2-0! Great! that killed what was left of the game.[..and the second!] The performance today has got me wondering what the hell is going on at Pools? I guess its just League 1 football for you! gotta love it!!
Many things to say about yesterday indeed. Firstly, the Netherlands won 4-1 against Sweden and are top of the group with 12 points. Secondly, Belgium proved that you still need to defend a bit even though you have a good attack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=US6dVPduMRM And third, it is really a shame to see what happened in Italy yesterday but I think both federations are responsible. I mean how could those supporters enter the stadium with all those flares and banners?
Agreed. Agreed again. Italian police could've kicked them out easily but they were told not to do anything because it's obvious that this whole thing was orchestrated by people from both Serbia and Italy.
3-0 against Manc City away. What a result. Just goes to show spending ridiculous money on players doesn't always guaruntee results. Although I'm a little saddened by Celtic's shit performance today in the old firm match...
Only caught the last 30 minutes, but Arsenal played well. Fabianksi made a couple of decent saves, too (including Adebayor's offside header).
We'll probably compete for it but there's no way we'll win it. We'd probably have to avoid defeat between now and the end of the season to win the title and hope Chelsea lose a bit of form. I don't see that happening.
We? Which position do you play? Just kidding. Fabregas wants titles, understandably. Another trophy-less season will be frustrating for him and other players. Might end up leaving. You can be sure the transfer saga will kick up again. Rooney's was just pathetic. He said the manager "convinced" him of the club's future and assured him they'd continue fighting for titles (because that's what he was oh, so concerned about). If that was the case, why did he need a £250,000 deal?
3-1! top of the league you're havin' a laugh! http://www.teamtalk.com/hartlepool-united/6504814/Seagulls-stunned-by-Pools?
Without Terry in command their defence looks like a bunch of kids playing football in a school playground. Btw, did you guys see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-ufx21XS2g It's legen-wait for it..
