Also, this is by far one of the best LPU releases.

 

I have no idea how they made Coal in 1997.

Overall, the vocal tracks were the weakest. They sound good, but are the same old crap LP has released their entire career before ATS. I love all of the instrumentals. Pale and Halo take it for me. I'd say this is better than LPU9. They both have a lot of instrumental work, LPUX just has a lot more unheard stuff.

 

I don't think I really like the rap in I Have Not Begun. At least not the lyrics.

 

Turns out I really like all of the instrumentals. But still, I just listen and keep wishing there were vocals. That's just how I listen to music I guess.

 

Yeah, Coal doesn't sound like something from 1997, but when we got the Xero demo last year, the quality was professional.

Maybe it was remastered.

 

Agreed but I think its just the lack of any sort of sound from their earlier material. Hybrid Theory / Reanimation was atmospheric, ambient, chilling, and really caught your attention. I don't know if the same could be said for WTCFM or Burning In The Skies for example. While they nailed their sound on the head with HT / Rean / Mete they didn't master it, as you can never master a particular sound, theres always going to be room for improvement / innovation. By leaving that sound behind entirely, they have lost something that made them great.

 

And gained something that makes them better.

 

The POA demo is horrible. I don't care if it doesn't sound like the original. That is what you call garbage.

And to this, I say, not necessarily. I say it has made them more open minded, but that doesn't automatically equate to better. I want an open-minded HTEP.

 

Pale is the best thing here. But it's a great CD.

 

Great CD, even if two of the songs aren't really new to our ears.

I think What We Don't Know would have been a great track for MTM. I Have Not Begun is certainly more of a FM track than an LP track but Mike's rhymes are pretty sick in this one.

As for the instrumentals, I can't help but wonder why tracks like Pale and Halo havn't been heard until now. I find it hard to believe that Halo was written in the same sessions as Meteora...I think it's head and shoulders above most of the tracks off that album. Divided also had potential to be a great track.

It frustrates me because I think some of those instrumentals could have had the potential to be better than some of the final tracks that appeared on the albums if they were finished off.

It's also hard to believe Pale wasn't heard of. It's five minutes long. Why waste it?

 

Why do they make thousands of minutes worth of music that nobody will ever hear?
