I voted Somewhere I Belong. Not the most mature lyrics, but that song hit me in the right place when I first heard it.

The Catalyst. May not be ground breaking but it is the single that marked the new era.

I don't really know what answer you're looking for with that question. I took it as what was the best single for the public to hear for the first time. I picked Leave Out All The Rest. Poppy, easy to listen to, no screaming or rapping. It should reach the most people and draw them into the world of Linkin Park.

    1. It's their most groundbreaking single if you ask me. How is it not groundbreaking?
    2. And as a groundbreaking song, it's also a very weird song. Most people won't get into it the first listen, which the question is asking. At least I sure didn't.

I'd say either In The End because it showcases the rapping (but no screaming or hard guitars) , or as Travz21 said, Leave Out All the Rest.

Because it sounds like a P.O.D. b-side with Super Metroid playing in the background.

It's not ground breaking in the sense that it didn't have the same affect as say In The End had with people.
In The End had been a key song that made them big. The Catalyst just seems like another single, after another single, after another single.

No song will ever do that for Linkin Park again. They reached their peak in terms of popularity unless the general consumer drastically changes their musical taste.

In the end. Loved it the first time, the second time, the 10th time, and every time I hear it I will continue to love it.

I mean what single really "wowed" you for the first time? The song you might have put on every day when you got home etc.

I'm torn between Faint and Numb.

Those first 30 seconds of Faint is enough to get anyone hooked. Probably my favourite LP riff.

    And Numb because...well...it's Numb

One Step Closer. It was the first Song of Linkin Park I heard back then, it brought me into the Band and still gives me chills if I listen to it today.
