With Linkin Park currently touring North America as part of the A Thousand Suns World Tour, media outlets are releasing more interview snippets from a conference call Linkin Park made to the press to promote it. MLive.com feature Mike Shinoda discussing playing the A Thousand Suns track "Blackout" live, as well as sharing concert experiences growing up and how this influenced the release of the Official Tour DSP's. Check out the highlights and full article below. On Blackout Live: "And while not everything has worked and some pairings and transitions have had to be cast aside, Shinoda said on the whole the tour has yielded more pleasant surprises, such as the live rendering of the largely electronic and sample-based Blackout." "I’s mostly like drum sounds and keyboard sounds and stuff like that and we were thinking, "This is going to be a nightmare to try and play live", like literally the whole band is going to need to play samplers and synthesizers, so how are we going to do that and make it sound as exciting as the song is supposed to sound?" “We threw some ideas together and rehearsed it and felt pretty good, but, I mean, the crowd went out of their minds. It was so much fun to play that song and it actually is now probably one of the most exciting moments in the set.” On Souvenir Recordings: “Man, I wish I could have had the opportunity to take home a souvenir recording of the time I saw Alice in Chains at the (San Francisco Cow) Palace, back in the ’90s,” Shinoda said via phone recently. “I saw Panthrax [sic] and Public Enemy play together. That was one of the first concerts I ever saw, which was the Killer Bees tour. I remember seeing Pearl Jam playing, they were, like, the second band on Lollapalooza. For young people, I know they don’t necessarily remember a time when this didn’t exist, but for those of us who have that kind of perspective, it’s something that’s exciting.” Read The Full MLive Article - HERE Source: MLive.com
<3 "Panthrax" ...but yeah, Blackout has been my favourite track from ATS since it's release and I'm sure it would be awesome and special to hear it live. It's the track everybody wants, no point denying it.
Speaking of Blackout, I still don't understand the lyrical meaning in the second part, and how it is linked to the first, can anyone elaborate please?
He's talking about how awesome Blackout live is, but they've played it only twice I think. If it's so fun, make it a permanent fixture in the setlist!
Yeah that confused me too. I'm hoping they include it in every show past Atlanta, because there's a few songs I wouldn't mind them retiring as they've been a bit overplayed haha.
I was a little gutted they didn't play Blackout in Newcastle when I saw them because its such an tune!
Panthrax LOLLLLLLLLLLL Edit- I actually tried looking for Mike in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEwKCu0P89c
i'm hoping they retire one of the Meteora songs and just play Blackout. missing out on it on sunrise sucked so much. i hope next time they come down here, they do the new setlist.
Speaking of the Toronto show, how early do you think we need to leave to get to the front? This is my first LP show, so I don't know how big the fan showing here is at shows.
