Linkin Park will play the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA tonight as they continue the North American leg of the A Thousand Suns World Tour.

Last night the band played San Jose, CA where they played an unplanned new set which was basically the same as the televised New York, MSG show, except they replaced Breaking The Habit with a spontaneous The Messenger instead!

They had some technical difficulties after Numb / The Radiance, which led to Chester having the live crowd sing the Iridescent chorus twice, with Brad on the electric! Brad then grabbed an acoustic guitar and he and Chester then went into an unplanned and totally improvised acoustic performance of The Messenger due to the ongoing difficulties, before playing Iridescent in full. They usually play this set without a song between Numb & Iridescent, but New York & San Jose are exceptions and the only two shows where they have added an extra track between those songs. You can check out that part of the show below, courtesy of YouTube user jeremykirkf!

Other than those unique details, the show ran as normal with One Step Closer closing the show. Which set will LA see tonight? Will the band mix it up yet again or play a set we have already seen? Which tracks do you want to see them play?

Let us know if you're heading to the show and discuss the tour on the LPA Forums!

I'll be there! A little bummed I might miss The Prodigy but since it'll be for a meet and greet, I can't complain. I'll be wearing a Mike Shinoda "Sellout" shirt so feel free to chat me up if I look bored in line or something. See you guys on the floor! \m/

Ironically this was one of the best performances of The Messenger I've ever heard, despite it not being rehearsed.

Well it was rehearsed (they played it a few shows ago in Vegas), just not meant to be in this setlist lol. Pretty cool improv though! I like things like this at the shows...makes the DSPs much more enjoyable to listen to since it's not a cookie cutter set with no talking by the band at all (most of what Europe turned out to be).

I'm hoping for a setlist with both Wretches & Kings AND Blackout! That would be amazing

So the video of The Messenger that's embed here starts right after the end of this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0EUY3mHHHU

    After 'The Radiance'?

The band is really creative with how they improvise lol. I like this Iridescent stuff. "Our shit is broken? Hell, let me do Iridescent chorus 2x and then Messenger"...kinda random but cool.

Yeah, this picks up straight after The Radiance. It was pretty cool, I think Chester was hoping that the keyboard would be fixed after his rounds of the Iridescent chorus, and then they could just segue into the full song, which would have been kinda cool too as it would have been like a new unintentional interlude/intro to Iridescent, haha.

Well they usually try to play it off and act like nothing got fucked up, but after about 2 minutes of Mike's keyboard being out of commission it's kind of like "well shit, everyone knows now".
