Porn: Do you think it's wrong? Do you think that it degrades men/woman and is immoral? Do you think that it's disgusting and that it is bad for society? Do you watch it?

Prostitution: Do you think that it's wrong, do you think that it degrades the people who do it, and is immoral. Do you think that it is disgusting and that it is bad for society? Do you have anything against it? And should it be legal?

Is Porn a type of prostitution?
    --------
No I don't think it's wrong or immoral, do I think that it's a kind of prostitution? Sort of, prostitution is getting paid in exchange for sexual favors and that's primarily what Porn is, porn stars get paid for, well, having sex on camera.

It's my own opinion that as long as something doesn't harm anyone then why not? If you are hurting no one and you want do to it why should you feel bad what others think?

Or am I just a rare exception?

Amateur porn is a beautiful thing. Porn stars should be paid, since they are entertaining people, but they aren't paying someone to have sex with them. But I guess it is similar to prostitution in that they are making a living off of having sex.

I watch it all the time. There are even claims that watching porn with your partner is even a healthy thing to do. But, of course, there will always be buzzkills who say it's immoral and all that nonsense. Who's to say what's immoral or not?

Prostitution kind of rubs me the wrong way. I'd be all for it if they didn't have pimps, if they were treated right, if they weren't full of STDs, and if it was taxed.

Do you think it's wrong? LOL
Do you think that it degrades men/woman and is immoral? LOL
Do you think that it's disgusting and that it is bad for society? ROTFL
    Do you watch it? YES!

Me thinks you should define what you think "porn" is.

Jesse how dare you question porn! It's a beautiful thang!

People seriously would start rioting on the street if the govt. pull porn off the internet.

Hey man, I love porn!

But seriously, people have actually stopped talking to me because I told them that I watched porn. So obviously there are those who find something wrong with it.

There are many reasons to dislike porn. Honestly, I'm just apathetic about it.

As for prostitution, I don't see anything wrong with it either so long as both or all parties are consenting. Sex is sex, money involved or not. That's a choice people have to make.

Porn definitely has an effect on *some* of the people who watch it. It's not that it's immoral necessarily, it just changes the way we think of sex. It DEFINITELY objectifies women. Sorry, but that's the truth.

But, as it was very well put by one of my female friends: "there are definitely negative effects from watching porn, but that's not going to stop me from watching it."

What are the negative effects of watching porn?

And how does porn only objectify women? It objectifies everything involved in it. Even animals.

That's the point of porn. You don't want to sit around and get to know the people involved. You want to treat them as your play thing and be done with them. It doesn't actually objectify all of the females in the world, just the 1 or more women in the video that chose to objectify themselves. Same goes with the men in the videos.

No porn is not wrong (assuming informed consent is given). It is essentially a form of prostitution I would say (not that there is an issue with that). No prostitution is not wrong (assuming informed consent is given).

Whether it degrades someone or not is rather subjective. I mean, obviously it uses them as a source of entertainment, but so do all films. Whether it is degrading to them is up for the person involves to decide.

I haven't looked at porn in a while, just because. But, yeah, I worry about becoming addicted to Internet porn and, thereby, maybe letting it have some kind of really unhealthy influence my, like, sexual behaviour, even when a lot of what I look at doesn't really depict explicit sex. Otherwise, I have no problem with it, not morally. :) I don't support violence against women and I'm not into porn that really depicts that.

The problem though, is when a bunch of young kids see this over and over on the internet + they know nothing about sex, they assume that what they see if the way it should be done all the time. THAT is the problem.

So I guess the problem is not the porn exactly, but the fact that we can't trust the bunch of horny young idiots watching it.

I think kids know the difference between that and real life. Just like how they know other films aren't how things work in the real world. Or video games.

And if they aren't smart enough to understand that most women don't like to be pounded from behind and donkey punched, they'll find out on their own with the first girl/woman they try it with. Then their views on women should return to normal.

    Edit:
Some people can be desensitized sexually by porn, I suppose. I guess I'm kind of like that. Once you get with another living human being, you can kind of revert to thinking of porn-like scenarios while in the act with your partner and it can take you out of the experience a little. Most guys need that extra time with a real woman anyways lol.

This is all a "depending" question. There are pr0ns that are very violent and do degrade women, and people who enjoy that kind of thing are bad and they should feel bad.

Furthermore, there are pr0ns that use sex trafficked slaves. Never condone such things.

But painting large brush strokes, no.

If this is someone's first exposure to sex, there is no way for them to be 'smart' enough to be able to tell. No amount of smartness can cure a lack of information or being fed fictional information. It isn't a matter of intelligence but education. This is why parents should talk to their kids about these things. Furthermore you can't guarantee that people are smart to begin with.

The reality is that there ARE kids who learned about sex entirely through porn and then develop degrading attitudes towards women that last into adulthood. That's a fact.

I thought real sex was exactly like porn. Either that or I often get sexually harrassed by pizza boys.
