All these selections you've put down, I don't like any of them. ;" Though most of the beats are alright.
Let me start by saying you could do with some better Asian pop music. Now, let me show you how it's done. Female: Very much like Trent Reznor, surprisingly. Singer, songwriter, composer, producer, and arranger. Plays guitar and piano. Korean Popstar (singing in Japanese). Think Britney Spears, but hotter and can actually dance. Male: Singer-songwriter from the US, but pursued a music career in China. R&B/hip-hop with traditional Chinese instrumentation. Fucking jack of all trades. He sings, raps, plays piano, guitar, everything. Everything except write the lyrics. Asian pop battle is GO!
Just 'cause they're a singer/songwriter who can produce and arrange on their own, that doesn't make them a Trent Reznor. ;P I'd liken Utada to Imogen more than T-Rez.
I don't know. J-Pop has had it's fair share of revolutionary artists. Enter the Asian rock music videos.
Here's some Mandarin rap from Jay Chou that uses the same sample that Mike Shinoda used for Believe Me. And both songs came out around the same time. Actually now that I think about it, this was released like a week before.
I'd be willing to argue that Utada Hikaru is more popular than Girls' Generation. Anyways, I'm turning this into an Asian music thread.
Everyone randomly breaks into dance!
Woah. Haven't heard that song in a really long time. But I'd agree that Utada is somewhat more popular than Girl's Generation, even with American audiences.
