I said the bolded bit because that's exactly the type of music you hear at 5am on VH1. That song on the last page. Whatever it was. I know you didn't say she would be bigger than Beyonce or Gaga. That was in response to whoever said earlier that they think she will be pretty big by the end of the year, which I just don't see happening. If I'm wrong... well, whatever, it's not that important. I don't see her selling millions of albums, at best, to me, she's just a background voice that happens to have a solo career.

Y'know, like Dr. Dre.

After listening to the track a few more times I can say that I don't like it much. It's way too short and repetitive. Plus like Mark said, I think the production sounds extremely "crunchy". It hits the ears badly.

I still am looking forward to the album solely because I'm a fan of her older materials.

I don't think she's necessarily a sellout, but it is kind of funny how she seemed to be all Dido-like before and now she's resurfaced as this.

I don't wanna knock her effort of trying to reemerge as a new artist, since the first effort really didn't work out too well. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt till I hear the album.

 

I'm not even knocking it or being cynical about it, I just find the contrast kind of funny when I think about it.

 

For a girl with such a good voice, she's putting herself on top of beats and allowing herself to be produced by garbage producers. Seriously, fuck Alex da Kid, might as well get Scott Storch to do a couple of songs for you, Skylar. We're talking about the guy that created shit like Airplanes and that AWFUL Nicki Minaj single.

If you want to be Amy Lee, be Amy Lee. Just get a full backing band. I think that's what's the problem is with Skylar. It's okay when you're just guesting on a hip-hop song with Dr. Dre & Eminem, but it doesn't work for what she wants. She could achieve the same result, and make it sound 100% better, just with a live band. I don't get what she's doing, professionally.

 

^Yeah, that's what I thought. She should get Tyler, the Creator to produce for her instead.
