The issue with this isn't that we don't respect his opinion. We do. The issue is that he thinks LP should do so-and-so because it's GOOD FOR BUSINESS, not in terms of what he likes to hear in music.

The band working with Rick Rubin is generally no indication of how the album will sound, so I don't make any assumptions about that, except that I'll probably dig it. :)

Wow I was gone for a few hours and come back to this!

I guess the craziness for the next album cycle has officially started.

I can't believe some of you still bother with *other* sites, considering the intelligence levels there sometimes......

Rick Rubin is the best thing to happen to Linkin Park since Chester joined the group in my opinion. I can't wait (even though I have to *grumble*) to hear new material from the guys once the album is finished.

Ugh, I don't even know what you're talking about because it's almost 4am and I'm too tired to read over 200 posts, but anytime album sales are brought up, I get so flustered.

Because of the internet and pirating music album sales are not an accurate indicator of blah blah blah. I realize that I'll sound like an ass for saying this, but isn't that commons knowledge by now?

On topic for the thread: I'm glad that they're working hard. Sure, I'd love new music from my favorite band since I started listening to music in 2000, but also because they seem so excited about it. It seemed to me like ATS was a bit grueling, and yet they've turned around and started working so soon. Good for them. Everyone should be so lucky as to do what they are passionate about for a living.

    Thanks Flozuki!!

And also, about Rick...people forget that he used to be a rap DJ back in the 80s (before he grew his hair out and became an epic producer). He experimented with combining genres back then, and his experience as a DJ makes him a far better fit than Gilmore ever was. Hell the only person I'd ever bring back from HT days is Andy Wallace because I loved his mixing.

I agree, Andy Wallace's mixing was awesome. I wouldn't mind seeing a return for him on this album.

And Rubin/Wallace worked together on Walk This Way, a famous production that gave birth to rap/rock.

Do I smell an instant hit? :awesome:

As much as I'd like to agree with you, I wouldn't be Minus if I didn't point out that Walk This Way didn't give birth to rap/rock, it just made it mainstream.
