Who's been a fan of the series? Are you ready for Part Two? As for me I have been a fan of the books and movies since the beginning. What about you guys? Do you like the Harry Potter series?
I'm a huge fan of the books, I've got the whole collection and I've read them all many times. I'm not a big fan of the movies, the only one that I really enjoyed was Deathly Hallows Part One. I guess I'm one of those nerds that gets pissed off when things are omitted from or added in to the movies. I'm looking forward to Part Two, the trailer looks awesome! I will rage if they fuck up my favourite moment of the entire series, the "The Prince's Tale" chapter in the movie. Snape FTW.
I LOVE the Harry Potter series I'm so stoked for the last movie, and I'll be depressed when it's over, but I'm ready for PotterMore!
The movies are a huge letdown. The end of the 6th movie was so bad I felt like puking. The books are literally the only books I've seriously read.
The movies really pissed me off after the third one. They weren't loyal to the books at all. I had completely avoided the 6th one since they, from my understanding, completely omitted Dumbledore's funeral from the movie.
I think the movies do better job than a lot of other adaptations like Naria, Percy Jackson etc. I've come to accept the fact that the movies will always be subpar compared to the books.
I liked how true Columbus aimed to stay to the books without just showing a visual of the text. I hated Cuaron's attempt at PoA, and I hated that Newell threw out half the book with GoF. Yates disappointed me with both rushing OotP and turning HBP into a half-assed romantic comedy; however, he's redeemed himself slightly with DH1, and I've read that he's made the final fight more epic to include apparating with Harry and Voldemort actually dueling instead of Harry basically knowing how it's all about to end, so I'm stoked for DH2.
First two books were much easier to adapt because they weren't big. Cuaron did an amazing job of revamping the HP world. His vision was the first step towards making the films more adult from children's fantasy. The cinematography in PoA is simply amazing. GoF was the biggest disappointment for me... the pacing was fucking horrible! Since OotP the movies have been pretty well made imo. But the visuals have become way over-the-top glossy and that's something I hate. DH 1 is probably one of the best films so far, and the best by Yates.
Yeah, after Columbus stopped directing, the movies started to go downhill, I noticed that. I think he's the one director that stayed true to the books to be honest, like you said. I am stoked to see DH2 as well. Part two should be awesome. What do you think it being in 3D? I wish they made the first HP in 3D.
As long as it's not pointless 3D like the saw flying at you at the end of SAW 3D (that's not a spoiler, come on, who didn't expect a flying saw in a 3D SAW movie? -_-), then it could be interesting. I hope it's more of the stereoscopic 3D and not like "look mommy I can touch that bubble!" type shit. Thor 3D was actually a pretty cool experience, so I hope it's on that level. I will initially watch it in regular 2D or IMAX so I'm guaranteed the movie in pristine condition, and if I'm super pleased, then I'll check it out in 3D.
I watched the first 6 movies last summer because my girlfriend at the time was really into the books and I wanted to watch Deathly Hallows pt.1 with her when it came out, ironically she dumped me the day it came out in the theatres. I really wanted to know how the series ended so I read the last book, which I enjoyed but other than that I wouldn't call myself a big fan of the series. I'll probably watch pt.2 when it comes out on Blu Ray / DVD I liked Order of the Phoenix the most out of all the films so far.
Read all the books, but lost my collection in the tornado :/ The movies aren't quite on par with LOTR, but they are sooo much better than Narnia. Books are great, I enjoyed every movie apart from Half-Blood Prince, and I'm pumped to see Pt.2
Just saw Deathly Hallows part 2 (yeah, the Australian premier :/ - not a Harry Potter nerd, sisters are though). The timeskip was pretty ridiculous, and it felt pretty rushed - especially for the first half of the movie. Other than that, was pretty decent.
BIG HP nerd since the first movie (then I read the books, much better than the movies). I really can't wait for DHII; me and my friends are all making butterbeers for it.
I was a great fan, though I finished reading the series about 4 years ago Movies are a bit of a letdown, haven't watched Deathly Hallows P1 yet, let alone 2...
I love the books, but I gave up when I saw Lupin. I thought he was cast rather poorly. From the clips I've seen, I've warmed up to him at least, but I still don't think I'll be watching the movies. Maybe on a whim today actually, but yeah. I heard from a friend that they blow up The Burrow and completely fucked up Ginny and Harry's first kiss and decided it wasn't worth it.
