Re-do. Definite top 4 that I definitely cannot ever scratch off my list: Krwlng High Voltage Dedicated P5hng Me Aw*y
1) Breaking The Habit: This song will most likely always be my favorite song of all time. It's lyrically one of their best songs in my opinion, and it's always had deep meaning to me. Extremely personal content here, and a song I'm very passionate about. 2) Papercut: I love the intro to this song, as well as the Mike/Chester interplay. The bridge is ridiculously powerful, and when played live, it's an absolute beast. 3) Faint: Hybrid Theory was when I became a Linkin Park fan, and all my friends knew that. LP has always been "my band" among my group of friends. Way back when, when Faint first started playing on the radio, I had so much pride in them. My friends and I would be listening to the radio, this song would come on, and I'd be like..."hey, check this shit out." So much energy all the way through. 4) New Divide: I fucking love the synth notes that play throughout the song here. I love Chester's performance, and the electronic breakdown was amazing. This song came out at the end of my Senior year of high school, and I remember in my Photoshop class every day looking for leaks. Finally found a 30-second snippet, and fucking loved it. 5) In The End: This was the song that started it all. I was at King's Skate when I was like 9 years old for a friend's birthday party, and I heard this song play over the loudspeaker. I loved it, and to my surprise my parents had the song on their computer. I got the album later for my birthday. I can still remember my first time listening to Hybrid Theory in the car, my mom driving, with the lyrics included in the album in my hand. I'll never forget it. 6) Lying From You: Badass intro? Check. Mike laying down the law? Check. Perhaps one of the most aggressive and powerful vocals from Chester? Check. Heavy guitar riffs? Check. Screams? Check. This song just has it all. 7) Iridescent: This is the song I go to when things start getting overwhelming in life. At this point, Linkin Park have become more than just a band to me. They're a symbol, something I take comfort in and can relate to in any sort of emotional circumstance. That said (and while this may sound cheesy as hell), hearing them say basically, "no matter how bad things get, no matter how hopeless you feel, everything is going to be alright" is extremely comforting. I love this song for its positivity it brings, along with the progressive energy it builds up to in the song. 8) The Catalyst: I followed this song so closely when it was first announced. When the "stems" were released and I thought "wow, this is insane...where the hell are they going with this one?" but then i remember listening to it in its entirety for the first time in my room. As soon as that "revving" noise started and took you into the electro bridge, I was so hooked. The ending is beautiful as well. Hearing Mike and Chester harmonize towards the end is...perfect. 9) A Place for My Head: I have a lot of memories with this song. I always remember how awesome and metaphoric Mike's raps were in this. Actually, this may be my absolute favorite performance from Mike. Tongue-twisting raps with some seriously cool analogies. This pretty much defines "old school LP". 10) What I've Done: Like The Catalyst, I remember when the first teaser for this song went up on their Myspace. It was just the beginning, and all my friends thought it sounded like Halloween music. While this is perhaps the most mainstream song LP has ever put out, I love the somber tone to Chester's voice, along with the solo provided by Brad. I also always get chills when the ending comes and Mike's "No no no" part is accompanied by Chester's final chorus. Man...I love these guys so much. I can honestly say I'd be devastated if something were to happen to them in the foreseeable future.
