For me that would MTM. Its a great album but i hate the way they put it together.. Fast/slow/fast/slow songs.. It just feels like some songs being put on an album they had left over or something.

New merch idea: Linkin Park teams up with Craftsman to make the Official Linkin Park Toolbox.

I reckon "getting back to the roots" means they're capturing the energy they were able to create in their first 2 albums. I'm really hoping though, they can incorporate the organic stripped down feel of MtM, into their electronic themes. Something they have yet to do. THAT would be mind blowing.

This will be full of punchy, catchy, hooky, beat driven songs, with Chester bringing back some vintage screams. The last one, being a big fingers crossed. I just need more drums and guitar to compliment the amount of electro stuff going on.

The funny thing with Linkin Park's "roots" is that they have so many different "roots" to route back to. Every album sans Meteora has been different from the last and had a different sound. (although there is an arguement that BTH and FTI are stand out different) Anyways, by saying "back to their roots" is very vague. I'm getting a hint that it is going to be a conglomerate of everything they've done thus far.

maybe "toolbox" is an expression mike is using. mike is maybe using it to say that we are basing the sound around how linkin park made hybrid theory and meteora. that's my guess

"I think that's gone misconstrued as a return to heavy guitars."

" It's definitely not going back to our old ways"

It will not sound like HT or Meteora.

So much this yes! I loved the sound of MtM! I loved the organic sounding instrumentation and if they could somehow fuse that raw sound with the electronic stuff and not hide the guitars behind distortions and layers, why that would be just amazing IMO.

It's obvious that Shinoda's trying to tell us there should be a toolbox smiley on this board.

The more I hear about this the less excited I am for it. Anticipation is currently quite low, much more interested in Storm Corrosion & Down IV.
