Hi, this is you completely going back on everything you said earlier. You do realize that a great deal of the characters in this movie were fictional right? There were real characters in there, but no shit there wasn't accuracy concerning FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. I mean, just... Now I remember why I have you on my ignore list.
I have beef with nobody except pervert posters that ask for pictures of toes. I just like talking shit to anyone I can. The people that react to it are the ones I end up focusing on.
Yeah, I'm trying to start the beef - perhaps pointing out the pettiness of it isn't the best way to achieve that result. Someone has to keep this forum entertaining, in any case. Everyone's talking about some new album and it's getting preeetty boring.
Yeah I agree - but we've got this pretty popular vegetarian fast food franchise in my city called 'Lord of the Fries' that does the tastiest mock-chicken burgers. Makes me want to go vegetarian a little bit.
Maybe the fact that I think it's tasty means I have eaten one, and possibly eat them often. I mean, just...
If the Titanic had enough beef it wouldn't have sank and James Cameron's ego would be much much smaller. Hell, Avatar might not even exist.
Nothing wrong with Avatar. It's a beautiful world and a beautiful movie. Best Pocahontas adaptation I've ever watched.
Which post are you talking about? If you're talking about the post about my post on the last page, while it's a bit weird that people didn't know it happened, I really don't think it's that notable and it's not even close to the most tragic events in history. I also have difficulty feeling sympathy for people who would be dead by now anyway.
Not really, seeing how I put my opinion on the FICTIONAL aspect in the second post quoted, when that was a reference to the actual second post of mine saying JUST SAYING and my post you had your period hissy fit over was concerning the 78% (not concerning visuals but the facts ie the "narrow" escape it had when really it had no choice but to go through the iceberg . . not going to bother) I bitched on about.
Understandable, however, the failure of the Titanic did effect how a lot of things are made now. Safety is no longer a laughable subject. It really was a huge engineering wake-up call.
Fair enough, I definitely missed that. You can't really expect younger people to be interested in safety developments in engineering though, if that's what it's most notable for. I haven't read Lord of the Flies or seen any film adaptions so it's pretty much lost on me lol.
The book is great. The films are crap. ;" But, yeah, if you know the title, there's no other joke beyond the pun. There's a Thai food place near where I live called 'Thaitanic' or something like that. Not really a reference to the Titanic but I think about it, just the same
For the record, Titanic was not 100% historically accurate. In fact there were a few inaccuracies, some major, some not as major. A few I can think of off the top of my head: - William Murdoch was portrayed as a coward who accepted bribes for spaces in a lifeboat, and ultimately couldn't handle the stress and commited suicide. Many surviving eyewitnesses gave testimony to the contrary, stating that Murdoch died when he was attempting to free Collapsible A, and a wave pulled him away from the ship. There were reports of an officer committing suicide, but many reports state this was NOT Murdoch. Murdoch was portrayed by passengers and crew as a hero who tried to save others until the very end and was still alive when the ship totally sank. - The portrayal of Bruce Ismay, however this is less Cameron's fault as it is the fault of the media in the 100 years since the sinking. In the inquests that followed the sinking Ismay was cleared of any wrongdoing, and he reportedly only entered a lifeboat after all other boats had been filled. He helped other people into lifeboats, and there's even letters from survivors thanking him for how he helped them into lifeboats during the sinking. - The portrayal of the sinking is slightly off, although they only discovered this through new technology about a year ago. The ship actually sank with a slight list to the side, and only rose out of the water about 19 degrees, as opposed to the extreme angle shown in the film and many paintings. Cameron can't be faulted for this as he was going off of what eyewitnesses thought they saw, and what science suggested at the time, but given what is known now, it's not totally correct. The new ABC Titanic movie got the sinking a little more accurate, but was still off. So yeah, mostly correct...but there's a few glaring issues that weren't pointed out.
