Was confirmed to have rapping by rolling stone? As in the rolling stones? Or is this just some rap group?

Why does it feel like night today?
Something in here's not right today.
Why am I so uptight today?
    Paranoia's all I got left
I don't know what stressed me first
Or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like
To have a voice in the back of my head
It's like a face that I hold inside
Like a face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face watches every time I lie
A face that laughs every time I fall

    ... today
    ... today
    ... today
    Yeah, exactly.

And just because the lyrics in Given Up are sparse, as in, they go in and out, and there is not a lot of them, with a lot of space in between each word, does not mean they are bad.

I don't mind if the lyrics are simple. They tell a story and I can relate to it, that's all I'm looking for :).

That's the best you have? Because they repeat "today" a few times? You'd rather focus on the rhyming than the meaning?

Those lyrics are some of the most poetic and creative in Linkin Park's catalog. Terrible choice of example.

The lyrics in "Given Up" are laughably bad. They're so whiny and angsty and everything bad that Linkin Park is stereotyped as. It's so "been-there-done-that".

    "I've given up,
    I'm sick of feeling,
Is there nothing you can say
    Take this all away
    I'm suffocating
Tell me what the fuck is wrong,
    With me."

    &

"Put me out of my misery,
Put me out of my misery,
    Put me out of my,
Put me out of my fucking misery."

It comes off as if the band took the words "waste", "disgrace", "misery", "escape" and "suffocating" and tried to string them together. That bridge is even more cringe-worthy than "Shut up when I'm talking to you!"

Not to mention the gratuitous swearing. Easily one of the band's 10 worst songs.

This is all opinion of course, but it doesn't take an English major to realize the notable disparity in meaning, imagery and poetry between APFMH/Papercut and Given Up.

These are not the worst lyrics LP has in their category.

    "EEEEVERYTHING IS MAH FAAAAAULT,
It's all the same, just pass me the blame,
    PROBLEMS HAAAVE TWO FAAAACES,
    EEEEEEVERYTHING IS MAH FAULLLT"

What do you expect... it's a demo... But I like the sound of those lyrics though. I like that song. Demos usually have awkward lyrics.

It's also their most emo song ever. EVER. No contest. =w=

And Demos having awkward lyrics? Um.

    Across The Line.
    What We Don't Know.
    Dedicated.
    High Voltage.
    Slip.
    Blackbirds.
    My December.
    Pretend To Be.
    APFMH(Easul) LPU11 Demo
    Robot Boy Demo
No Roads Left ((If you count it, that is.))

    Yeah,no. Point thoroughly destroyed. :p

The thing about demos is they are at different stages of completion, which often means lyrics are at different stages of revision. See: LOATR demo.

Looking at your list, you're confusing B-sides and Demos.

Demos are typically non-finalized earlier versions of completed songs. B-sides are typically finalized songs that don't appear on albums.

So nah, point not really thoroughly destroyed. Zoe was completely right to use that argument.

The point wasn't that demos always have bad lyrics. The point was that demos don't neccessarily have good lyrics. Because they aren't finished. Also, High Voltage, Blackbirds, My December, No Roads Left and Across the Line aren't demos, they're finished products. And to top that all off, the Robot Boy demo makes me cringe.

    Raaah. Ninja'd.

I redact my statement, but stand by most of what I said. The demos that I did point out had superior lyrics. :p

These songs in your list don't count, Elaine.

Across The Line (This is a completed song but barely made it onto the album, as said by members of Linkin Park.)
Dedicated, High Voltage, Blackbirds, My December and No Roads Left (These are not demos, they're completed songs.)

60% of your argument is already invalid.

Only these songs are counted as demos:
Slip (The chorus lyrics is not awkward?)

I know all of this will soon be gone. You don't really have to prove them wrong. I know soon enough you'll make them see. You'll be far away from them with me.

They are more like words that rhyme put into lyrics..

    What We Don't Know

Er... We fake what we don't know, really? >.<

    Pretend To Be:

Why do I have to see this through, why do I have to take this? Isn't there something I can do to make myself finally say this; No, you've taken this too far, exposing who you are, for all to see, you're not the one that you pretend to be.

I still think this lyrics are not the best.

Esual (The studio version of this has more refined lyrics.)

Robot Boy Demo (The studio version of this has better flowing lyrics while this one is a tad too longish.)

Compared to "EVERYTHING IS MY FAULT", those lyrics are genius.

These lyrics belong on Meteora.
