According to the interview at MTV FIRST, POWERLESS was the most challenging song they've ever written.. Mike said that the song was actually a DEMO for a long time... I wonder what era does it belong? Maybe it was on MTM or ATS..? Any Thoughts?
I think it's from Meteora or MtM. They've spoken about "a long time". So it's probably not from the A Thousand Suns Era
Minutes to Midnight. They had dozens of demos from that era and I don't think it's as that far as from Meteora.
I knew there was some reason to be excited about powerless! Btw where is this interview? I think its from MTM, but could even be from hybrid theory...
Yeah, they made a huge lot of demo things (Making of: MTM). The tracks sounds cool. Old lp demo + their new style...
A couple possibilities that come to mind are that Powerless could be the finished version of either "Primo" or "Ammosick." Primo was a demo from the A Thousand Suns recording sessions that is also known to have been worked on during the sessions for Living Things, and Ammosick was a Minutes to Midnight demo that was brought back during the A Thousand Suns sessions, so it might have gotten a third chance at life.
They said in the interview, they worked on POWERLESS for nearly more than one year. So what you people are considering could easily be true. But POWERLESS could also be a brand new song idea which saw it's light just at the very beginning of the LT writing process.
I actually watched it on MTV.com and I had no problems.. Just had to keep clicking 'Stay on MTV US' or whatever it was and deal with 30 second T-Mobile ad's every time I clicked on the next video lolol.
According to the interview, it was an A Thousand Suns demo. I say that because Mike refers to Tinfoil as the "original vibe" and the "intro" to Powerless. He then says something along the way they turned it into a 6 long epic that they then chopped down. So it's either an ATS demo or just one of the very first LT demos. Also, it doesn't say Powerless is the most challenging song they've "ever written." It just says it was the most challenging Living Things song.
Yeah, most likely from a batch of songs they couldn't keep on writing. I'd like to know more working titles from the LT sessions.
I want to hear the 6-minute version song of Powerless. I hope they release the long version on LPU12.
