Don't get me wrong, I LOVE A Thousand Suns. It was just completely ignorant how so many people were writing off this album after two songs.
Amazing: In My Remains Castle Of Glass Powerless Victimized Good: Lost In The Echo I'll Be Gone Roads Untraveled Skin To Bone Tinfoil Meh: Until It Breaks (I'm just not feeling it right now...but Mike's rhymes are great) Lies Greed Misery Burn It Down All in all, great album...this is probably the least compromising record yet. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I'm proud of you, boys!

Hahah I'm honoured you'd say that!! On the second listen now, Castle of Glass is fucking amazing. The way the first half of the song Mike's vocals are at the forefront, and then after the halfway point it's Chester at the front and Mike's vocals move to the back.
Listening to it with Beats by Dre, much much better! Definitely hitting the basketball courts later on with my mates with Until it Breaks in the backgrounds! that is an old school rap song at it's finest.
LOST IN THE ECHO: 9/10 - Great opener. My favorite rap "style" of Mike ever!!! He's perfect in this song!! IN MY REMAINS: 9.5/10 - My 2nd favorite of the album. Just loved the chorus sung by Chester and the "like an army falling one by one by one" part is just beautiful. BURN IT DOWN: 7.5/10 LIES GREED MISERY: 8/10 I'LL BE GONE: 8/10 - Chester is singing like in Out of Ashes. Nothing special on it, but a great song. CASTLE OF GLASS: 10/10 - My favorite of the album. One the best songs of Linkin Park has ever done. Love how Mike and Chester are singing together in this one. VICTIMIZED: 7/10 - Weird. Starts with Mike singing then comes a scream of Chester then a rap of Mike and then a scream comes again. The heaviness is in the drums. Really excited to see Rob playing this song live. ROADS UNTRAVELED: 8.5/10 - Pretty mellow. The intro kinda reminds me of My December. I loved!! SKIN TO BONE: 8/10 - Could be easily on ATS. It's weird too, but the ambient through the song is really good. UNTIL IT BREAKS: ?/10 - Another weid track, the weirdest song of LP ever. It is just weird. I don't know if I loved or hated it yet. It's really a UFO but Brad's part is AMAZING!! TINFOIL: 7/10- Opener for Powerless. The background is very HT. POWERLESS: 9/10 - Beautiful song. Perfect closer for the album. The intro reminds me of BITS. The chorus is great and the way Chester say "powerless" sounds sorrowful. ------------------------------------------ Epic album!! It's really a compilation of all records. It's so great as ATS. Thanks LP for another brilliant record!!
Skin To Bone may be one of my favorite songs the band has ever done. Mike has an excellent low registrar and even sounds a little like Matt Bellamy at parts when he sings.
preface: I'm a very tough grader Great tracks: Lost in the Echo - perfect album opener; wastes no time drawing you into the album Roads Untraveled - definitely an album standout; haunting vocals; would've made for a great album closer Good tracks: Skin to Bone - captivating, brooding harmonies but seems very short/not reaching it's climax like many of these songs (however, I could see this being bumped up to *great*) I'll be Gone - fantastic melody, nothing groundbreaking but loving the guitars (takes me back to classic LP) Decent/Average Tracks: In My Remains - not a bad song, I just can't find anything good to say about it; in other words - bland Castle of Glass - The first minute is great but then it just puts you to sleep Until it Breaks - well, Mike's raps are pretty good then it turns into a completely different song leaving you with a confused feeling Tinfoil/Powerless - not really feeling chester's vocals; they seem to take away from the awesome instrumentation; I just don't feel the genuine emotion/feeling in this like I've felt in other LP albums Bad: Victimized - huge disappointment, repetitive chorus; could've been a decent song if they spent more time on it Burn It Down - underwhelming, soulless single Lies Greed Misery - perhaps LP's worst song of all time Overall: very mediocre to average album
Still can't find powerless, best song ia Lost in the Echo! I generally loathed ATS as a whole, but loved a few songs. MTM was dissapointing as well. This album has so much upside and potential!
