Exactly, they're old enough to decide what kind of people they want to be. I get the whole peer pressure thing, and saying bad stuff about other people behind their backs. Hell, I'm in university and I joke with my friends about my lecturers being terrible all the time. I don't tell it to their faces though, because I know I'm not being serious and don't actually want to insult them. The stupidest thing about this is how they decided to film it and put it up on Facebook, it's like they were proud of what they did and that's where the problem lies. After having time to think about it and reflect on what they'd just done, they decided to show off about it which is just plain wrong.

P.S. That quote in your sig is originally from Winston Churchill, not Eminem ;)

No idea, it just sounds so wise to me! :)

But you are right, my generation is old enough to decide what kind of people we want to be. But, the problem is, most of my generations are so far choosing to be assholes.

Excuse my harsh language, but these kids are just cunts.

And what these idiots do becomes the general view of my so called "generation", what sort of a world are we living in?

    Idiots.

And what I don't understand is how people like you seem to not care when 600k gets mindlessly pissed to the wind over bullshit causes like this. The only difference between this case and any other case of bullying is that this was caught on camera. What about the people who actually suffer in silence? Where's their 600k? Who's setting up campaigns for them? If everyone were to follow the logic of this case then practically everyone who's bullied should have pledges set up for them.

600k is a serious amount of money. I think it's absurd that in this current financial climate, where millions struggle to make ends meet, that sort of money is being wasted on someone who, being realistic here and not trying to sound like a cunt, will probably die before the majority of that money can even be spent. Yes, it's a nice send off for her and she herself probably struggled to make ends meet with her relatively low paying job, but my question is where is the sense in throwing hundreds of thousands at one direct incident? I know she didn't ask for any of it but it boggles the mind when you think what such better causes that money could go towards. Why not send in money to official anti-bullying campaigns to help tackle the problem on a wider scale? Or if someone donated for the sake of doing their own good deed, why not to a more needing cause? Jesus, 600k could probably feed an entire town in a third world country for years - no exageration.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that so many people reached out to her to make her feel a little better. I just think giving someone 600k for something that happens pretty much everywhere is stupid. You may very well set up pledge campaigns for every individual who has been bullied, in which case I guarantee there's not enough money in the world.

Have you not read into what's been said? Humanity came together to give this women hundreds of thousands of dollars to make her feel better. As ridiculous as that is to me, if you ever wanted proof of the goodness in humanity, that's it.

I wonder what she ever did to them? Probably nothing. Excuse my language, but these kids are nothing but a bunch of idiots who bully weaker then themselves.

Charges for what? The kids didn't do anything illegal. Being an asshole is not a crime in the US.

This video is horrible, but I there's something else that's bothering me:
Maybe it's just me, but the people that say these kids should be beaten just really irks me. How can you condone kids for bullying a lady, and then go to say the solution to the problem is to bully back? In this society, violence should no longer be the solution to problems. If you want to teach kids my age how to be tolerant of one another, you shouldn't tell them to use their fists every time they're faced with a problem. That's just my opinion.

Do you think it's as disgusting when people toss away as much money on say, pornography or videogames? What about a totaled $158,922 for a 40 part YouTube documentary on "Shit in videogames that pisses me off"? Disgusting? Is it outrageous when neckbearded nerds scrounge up $300,000 to make a 2 hour movie on how super awesome they are?

Is your issue more with the warped priorities people have with their money, and had people actually give enough fucks about things that matter, seriously great things could be happening all the time? Or are you just so hung up on being edgy that you can'y see people throwing some change at a woman who by all accounts walks the poverty line so she doesn't have to make a living being degraded by white trash children all day? Either way, the hilariously uncalled sense of superiority about the entire thing just reeks of tryhard.

edit: This isn't attack on you, exactly, but more of that particular argument, which I see a lot regarding this story and have never really seen countered in any capacity.

Sorry Blackee, I agree with Luke.

What about 600k towards the starving children in the USA/other parts of the world. What about 600k towards less fortunate/undeveloped nations? I was bullied by classmates AND my school teachers, had my arm practically dislocated after an attack (that lead to me getting homeschooled for the rest of my school life), had things said to me that rivaled what was said to her and nobody paid me a single penny. And coincidentally? It happened on a school bus as well, while adults were present and did nothing to stop it. I may be a stronger person today than I was back then, but there are still plenty of lingering self esteem issues that I have as a result of that, and times where I still wonder if those kids were right about me. So I get what she went through. Bullying isn't just hurtful, it's psychological and it leaves damage that cant be fixed with simple money. Still, when I see all these other causes out there in the world that could use 600k a LOT more, it's bothersome to see that those situations practically go ignored. It took two whole months to generate 500k for Music For Relief for people who lost family/loved ones/their livelihoods in Japan, and only 1 week for a senior citizen who got bullied to get the same amount. It really kind of makes me question the priorities in this country.

I'm not saying the idea of donating to her was wrong, or that I object to it (because really, what those kids said was awful and bus monitor jobs don't pay shit), but Luke's points are totally valid. If you're going to donate because of bullying, open up a charity to benefit all bullied children. There's plenty of people out there who suffer in silence and never have their stories told. The only difference is that she had hers on camera.

    *EDIT* Is this ok? http://abcnews.go.com/US/bullied-bu...cept-apologies/story?id=16634708#.T-dMd_UXGGk

"They can do better" she says, as the families get death threats and attacks.

$600,000 is too much. But you can't really complain, see, tons of people saw the video - if you want to stop that mass of people from doing what they think is right - go ahead, try.

I think the fallout from this video has led to punishment enough for the kids. It's safe to say they'll never make hurtful comments towards other people again.

People can do whatever they want with their money. Just expect tons and tons of more videos popping up like this that are staged. Fuck, I might even make one! LOL JK

Did you not read the report? The woman was asked if she wanted to press charges and she shunned away the idea and said she 'doesn't want anything to happen to the kids' and merely hoped they would learn a lesson.

I think he was referring to what the woman might have done to deserve such treatment, but it was nice of her to take the high road.

Actually, it's what can happen when parents do smack their kids. Child abuse isn't a very effective way of teaching. It's for lazy parents.

Children with parents that actually teach them a good and respectful way to live are much better off than if they got the bad ways smacked out of them.
