LP doesn't reveal this guy's identity because attention is what he wants.

To this day i still read about how Hybrid Theory was written by Warner Brothers and Linkin Park is a manufactured pop band. The guy caused some damage that will probably stick around in the minds of fringe fans/haters for their entire career.

The two most likely suspects would probably be Jeff Blue (former Zomba Music/Warner Bros. A&R guy who signed Xero to their initial publishing deal and ultimately got LP signed to WB, but his name mysteriously disappeared from the "LP scene" not long after Meteora came out...) or David Kahne (former Vice President of A&R at WB, also a producer who worked with LP on some of their early demos, his name notably appears on the promo CD with the Plaster demo on it - Mike mentioned that he was one of the people who "didn't really get the band" early on in their career). Could just as easily be about somebody else though.

Yeah it's not only one person.. Of course, the first part of the song is most likely about one person because Mike talks about a "he" when referring to the conversation on whether LP should keep the rapping or just have Mike on the keyboard, but then the message grows to a colectivity as he refers to the press and how they tried to portray Linkin Park as a manufactured band.

He has spoken about this in interviews before, though it was years ago and I couldn't pinpoint the exact interview. The guy who tried to throw Mike out and went to the press with the manufactured rumor was one guy. Then after that the press took the story and spread it. Those pronouns are not referring to the same things.

I'm sure that this was the guy Mike was talking about in his art center speech.
