The outro to Dust Brothers. Mind blown. Makes me wonder about the Pushing Me Away demo (if it exists...) Thank you so much for this.
Now here's what I'm wondering: is the relative absence of Mike on all tracks except Untitled because they didn't lay down his tracks yet, or is this actually what they envisioned these songs sounding like? Or, is this what Mike was talking about on Get Me Gone?
I've gotta say, the outro to Papercut made my jaw drop. Not because it's better than the final version, but because I was so used to the original. And I love the mix on Dust Brothers. Chester sounds so much more prominent and powerful! I wasn't quite a fan of the outro however. It just seemed too chaotic, and not the good ATS/LT kind of chaotic. Crawling also seemed so empty and eerie without Mike's vocals.
This is almost something I'd like to know as well. It's just so weird to have no Mike at all on some of the choruses, especially when we're so used to the final versions. I wonder if these are just that early, or there's another reason.
I love Dust Brothers! You can actually tell it's a guitar playing the lead melody during the verses and it sounds a lot more like the live version. The outro is good, HT version is better IMO.
