I'd rather have that to be honest. Maybe just because I thought he rapped better back then.

I love those lyrics, honestly. They make the In the End demo way more interesting.

The first three lines are actually excellent... after that it kind of sounds Meteora-esque.

When it comes to lyrics for Linkin Park, I always seemed to think that the stuff that's sung is better than the raps.

Regardless of the lyrics, LITE is one of my best pump-up songs now. So much energy.

Why is nobody talking about Chester's lyrics? I honestly don't like them at all. I only listen to this song for the rap parts, especially the bridge

Yeah, the chorus' lyrics are the biggest weak point in the song to me ... but none of the things that I dislike about the song are enough to turn me off the track as a whole and that also goes for any song off "Living Things"

One thing is for sure, LITE has the worst video.

Definitely would prefer that. The first three lines are awesome as are the last two. He paint a picture, a theme, and he sticks with it. The flow is also a lot better. The disjointed 'hey, fuck you' lyrics that Mike does in LITE (and also in W&K) are a huge step-down. I much prefer his metaphors and pictures that he paints with his lyrics. I mean, Mike pretty much tackles the same idea in BID with his short rap, but the imagine of the master-servant relationship carries it much better than the lyrics in LITE.

I think, for the singing it's Mike and Chester writing together, whereas for the rap it's mostly just Mike and the band kinda feels like 'well we can't rap, so I let's give Mike the benefit of the doubt here'. Having said that, Mike's rhymes are still great, but there are the occasional songs where he comes off very badly.

If someone can tell me what "The Untitled" is about I will give them five dollars.

" [just]Cause you don't understand him, it don't mean that he nice
It just means you don't understand all the bullshit that he write" -Jay Z

That goes with the majority of Mike's old raps.

I've always thought it was about a modern day Icarus. You know, the myth where the kid put together some makeshift wings with wax to try to touch the sun, only to find his demise when the sun melted the wax off of his wings... I always thought it was kind of like that. Somebody making you constructing something to get the power of the sun, yet, you know what you're building is going to end in failure. As the story goes on, you find that the decisions made by the people you're working under will eventually be your end. Bottom line is that power destroys people.

Personally, I've never been one to be "into" LP's singles. I've always liked their other songs more. I'd take Runaway over Crawling. Figure.09 over Breaking the Habit, Leave Out All the Rest over What I've Done, Blackout (Seriously, last minute of that song! Harmony heaven) over The Catalys. And Roads Untravelled over anything from LT. Mainly cause' that song hit home for me when I heard it on the iTunes stream. For personal reasons.

As for LITE, its a crowd pleaser, nothing more. Lyrics are meh most of the time. However Castle of Glass' lyrics are pretty sweet.

"Fly me up on a silver wing, pass the black where the sirens sing
Warm me up in a nova's glow, and drop me down to the dream below"

Victimized was massive disappointment for me though, was expecting more creativity from Chester there. Also, for me, LP shouldn't have released singles from ATS. Its a 48 minute song in my eyes. Taking a part of it and making it a single just makes no sense to me.

    As it stands for me:

    ATS<HT EP<HT=Reanimation<LT=Meteora<M2M

    Scores:

    ATS - 9/10
    HT EP - 8.5/10
    HT - 8/10
    Reanimation - 8/10
    LT - 6.5/10
    Meteora - 6.5/10
    M2M - 5/10

    My opinion any ways.

Being in a major label, I'm sure it's a requirement for them to release singles from each album they release while under their label to help increase sales.

I agree. Chester's part is almost laughably bad. I love the rapping, but some of the lyrics could be a lot better. I never really thought LITE was an amazing, epic track like a lot of LP fans think. It just sounds like LP attempting to make a ''nu-metal song'' again.
