    Hey everyone!

Before you lay into me about nu-metal, let me put out this disclaimer: this is just for pure fun. I don't believe that LP should EVER go back to the style that was called nu-metal back then, personally I consider ATS their best work. BUT I was going through my iTunes the other day and seeing some bands I used to listen to in my library who were also placed under this genre's umbrella by the general public or whatever, like early Adema, early Disturbed, Limp Bizkit got me wondering: what playlist of signature songs from all these bands would encompass the 'nu-metal' sound?

So this is my question to you all: if you were to make the ultimate 'nu-metal' playlist, what songs/bands would you put on this playlist?

Also, apologies if this thread is on the wrong section, I was not sure where this topic would fit lol. Anyway, let's put this playlist together!

In fact, back when I used to only listen to nu-metal, I did some "utlimate nu-metal playlists" for fun :)

I can't find them anymore, but here are some records that I would consider "classic" of the genre...

Deftones - Adrenaline / Around The Fur

Korn - well, at least the first 3 records I guess

    Limp Bizkit - Significant Other

You can probably put some early Adema, POD, Papa Roach, Disturbed and Mudvayne there. And obviously, LP - Hybrid Theory.

Well, also to put that out there, I have to say...I find it a little sad that admitting liking nu metal has kind of become a shame here. The genre had its low and high points, as it's the case for all music genres, and I'm not ashamed to say I still like it. Really, the hate towards it is ridiculous, especially on a LP forum.

Nu-metal is sick, anyone who doesn't like it is in the no fun club.

Some of my favourite nu-metal bangers:

    Slipknot - My Plague
    Korn - Y'all Want A Single
System of a Down - Chop Suey
    Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff
    Mudvayne - Happy?
    P.O.D. - Boom
Linkin Park - One Step Closer
    Papa Roach - Last Resort
Lostprophets - Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja
Disturbed - Down With The Sickness
    Adema - Immortal
    Taproot - Poem
    Drowning Pool - Bodies
    Saliva - Click Click Boom
Limp Bizkit - Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)
Emmure - I Thought You Met Telly And Turned Me Into Casper

I never liked nu-metal growing up. I was always into more alternate and punk bands. The only nu-metal band I liked was Linkin Park actually. I did enjoy some System Of A Down back in the day, but I don't really call them nu-metal to be honest, they were unique. I used to like Limp Bizkit a LONG time ago too, for a couple records, but that was when I was like 11.

    Linkin Park- In the End
    Papa Roach- Broken Home
    POD- Boom
Disturbed- Down With the Sickness (would say a newer song that I like better but there stuff now isn't really nu-metal)
    Hollywood Undead- SCAVA
    Saliva- Superstar
    Korn- Freak on a Leash
    Mudvayne- Dig
    Staind- For You
    Danger Kids- Countdown
    Kazzer- Pedal to the Metal
    Drowning Pool- Bodies
System of a Down- BYOB (if they count)

and that's just if you keep bands to one song each. Most of these bands id include a couple from each

Without going into too much detail, it'd probably be about 25% Sevendust, 25% Linkin Park, with mixings of P.O.D., Adema, Nonpoint, Jerk, Lostprophets, Evanescence, and maybe some early Roach. I'd include Disturbed, but probably just their two covers. It's sad when your favorite songs by an artist are just covers of someone else.

Not really, I was just raised around 80's rock (all my parents listened to) and I started listening to bands like Blink 182 when all those nu-metal bands were popular.

Is SOAD's album Toxicity considered nu-metal? Because if so that would be a staple for me.

I don't think so... anyway, I've read on Wikipedia that Korn's Life Is Peachy is the best example of nu-metal, so maybe judge by that.

I've heard them lumped into the nu-metal category as a whole, so I guess. Chop Suey was pretty nu-metally.

Hate most of the genre. Especially the fans. As in, the YouTube/Blabbermouth type. Though I like some Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Taproot, Systematic and of course the music Linkin Park made under that genre.
