A continuation of this, in essence. This is the thread where we will discuss lyrics from Linkin Park's latest album; the things you love, the things you dislike, the things you would like to change One of my favourite lines was from the album closer POWERLESS. -10,000 promises // 10,000 ways to lose It just encapsulates the riskiness of life and such. Off you go, people!
Some of my favourite lines: "I wanted to fix this / but couldn't stop from tearing it down" "You'll never know what I became because of you" "When your name is finally called / I'll be happy that you're gone" "I grind tough, sucker, make your mind up / are you in the firing squad or are you in the line-up?" "For you snakes in the grass, supplying the venom / I ain't scared of your teeth; I admire what's in 'em"
''May your love never end, and if you need a friend, there's a seat here alongside me...'' - Love it. ''Cause I'm only a crack... In this castle of glass... Hardly anything left for you to see...'' - Love it. ''You were that foundation, never gonna be another one, nooo...'' - Hate it. All in all, LT lyrics are good.
I love the lyrics of all the songs except Lost In The Echo and Lies Greed Misery. But my favourites are: "You'll never know what I became because of you" "Broken down and waiting for a chance to feel alive" "Wash the poison from off my skin, show me how to be whole again"
Favorite lines: "I don't fold up and I don't bow... I don't roll over / don't know how" "Broken down and waiting for a chance to feel alive" and "Like an army... Falling... One by one by one" "And you were there at the turn... Caught in the burning glow... And I was there at the turn... Waiting to let you know" "I want to see you choke on your lies... Swallow up your greed... Suffer all alone in your misery" and "You did it to yourself" I could post all of I'll be Gone's lyrics here. I love them so much. Same for Castle of Glass "No regret for the confidence betrayed... No more hiding in shadow... 'Cause I won't wait for the debt to be repaid... Time has come for you" Like I'll be Gone and Castle of Glass, there is no one favorite line for me in Roads Untraveled. I love them all. "Let tomorrow have it's way... With the promises we made" and "As the starlight fades to grey... I'll be marching far away" I'm noticing a pattern here. Until it Breaks is a masterpiece to me. Tinfoil speaks volumes to me as well. The lyrics in the verses of Powerless are amazing.
My mama taught me words, my daddy built rockets, put them both together now tell me what I got, it's a pretty smart weapon, I can shoot it, I could drop it, but learn to respect it cause you really can't stop it like that
To me, the lyrics of this album allow for a very imaginative experience. They're universal enough so that everyone can interpret them in their own way, and I dig that very much. Personally, my favorite lyrics would have to be in SKIN TO BONE, where the line, "As the starlight fades to grey, I'll be watching far away" are sung. Those lyrics just evoke the dopest imagery.
I personally don't like the lyrics in LITE. Probably because of the way it's sung/rapped - it doesn't sound energetic or strong enough; generic if you will.
Yeah, it is just too childish or Nu-Metal-ish. It would have sound good on Hybrid Theory but not on an album from 2012.
^Just LITE, in my opinion. The second I heard it for the first time, I didn't like it. I thought it's just corny somehow, the way it's rapped. It reminded me of the popular rap acts today, which is very, very bad. But I don't mind it a lot right now. I love Until It Breaks, such an enjoyable track. I wouldn't change a thing in Mike's rap, I love the lyrics. Chester's part shines too: Give me the strenght of the rising sun Give me the truth of the words unsung And when the last bells ring The poor men sing Bring me to kingdom come.
I liked the rapping in W&K and I really like the rapping in UIB. There's just something about LITE that makes it sound generic.
I'll do my favorite line from each track... ''Ya'll go hard, I go smart, How's that workin' out for ya'll in the back, huh?'' ''Like an army falling one by one by one'' ''I wanted to fix this, but couldn't stop from tearing you down'' ''I wanna see you choke on your lies, Swallow up your greed, Suffer all alone in your misery'' ''This air between us is getting thinner now, Into winter now, Bitter sweet'' ''Fly me up on a silver wing, Past the black where the sirens sing'' ''I ain't scared of your teeth, I admire what's in 'em'' ''If you need a friend, There's a seat here alongside me'' ''Ash to ashes, Dust to dust'' ''Give you what you need like Poppa, who shot ya'' ''You hid your skeletons when I had shown you mine'' ''You'll never know what I became because of you''
I agree with everything you said, though the lyrics in SKIN TO BONE are "I'll be marching far away," not "I'll be watching far away." It would change the whole verse if it didn't say "marching;" in my opinion "right to left and left to right" refers to the speaker's feet moving as they march. Other than that, those lyrics in STB are some of my favorites, also. Other favorites of mine, "I'm a Banksy, you're a Brainwash, get the picture like that?" Banksy being a genuine artist and Brainwash being a hack who doesn't do his own work. "Weep not for roads untraveled; weep not for sights unseen. May your love never end, and if you need a friend there's a seat here alongside me." "You disrespect me so clearly, now you better hear me." Clearly the speaker is angry at someone for mistreating them and the speaker is finally able to confront that person, which isn't easy at all to do. "So rest your head, it's time to sleep and dream of what's in store." <- Personally I got an APFMH vibe from this line. Almost like a continuation of that song's theme of never finding "a place to rest." Has anyone else thought this? Btw I'm pretty curious as to why some of you may not like LGM? It doesn't seem to be a popular song at all. Personally I quite like it and its lyrics.
The lyrics in LGM are very Meteora-esque with the whole anger and hate thing and wanting to see someone choke and suffer in their misery. Instrumentally, I like it.
