The Wolverine is the sixth in the X-Men film series, although it tries to separate itself from the rest of the films by trying to be a one-off film. I originally wasn't enthusiastic about this film having been disappointed with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but then these facts about The Wolverine are what got me interested. *It takes place after X-Men: The Last Stand. *Wolverine won't be searching for his past, but now debating about his future and immortality. *It is heavily based on the Wolverine series created by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont. *Most of the X-Men have left. *Wolverine will FINALLY have a weakness, in which his healing factor will be cured. *SILVER F*CKING SAMURAI. *Much less mutants - only Wolverine, Silver Samurai and Viper are mutants. *DEM NINJAZ *Wolverine will finally show his berserker rage mode. *They will make the audience guess if the characters are good or evil (except for Wolverine and Silver Samurai) This is the trailer Live chat with director James Mangold and Hugh Jackman spilling out Wolverine details: Cast: Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine Hiroyuki Sanada as Shingen Yashida Tao Okamoto as Mariko Yashida Rila Fukushima as Yukio Will Yun Lee as Kenuichio Harada/Silver Samurai Svetlana Khodchenkova as Viper Hal Yamanouchi as Shingen Yashida's father Brian Tee as Noburo Mori Famke Janssen as Jean Grey (archive footage or possible cameo)
It's cool to hear! I know some of the past X-men movies had mixed reception, but anyway, I've enjoyed all of them to a certain extent. So yep, nice news
The only thing I'm looking forward to in this franchise now is Days Of Future Past. I think First Class is the only X Men movie I've really enjoyed.
Worst one. From a comic book fan perspective they messed up the mythology of the X-men pretty bad in the 3rd one. That being said this looks much better than Origins. I am glad they are touching on a lot of the more interesting things about Logan with his connection to Japan and how he deals with outliving pretty much everyone.
yeah I'm afraid general opinion is that X-Men3 is the worst out of the original trilogy (even though I liked it) But the Wolverine so far is shaping up nicely. I hope its as good as I hope and what the character deserves.
It looks good enough, but I was hoping for a direct sequel to Origins. I guess I was one of the few who really enjoyed it.
Yeah, I can't say i hated it ether like most people did. It was alright. and I enjoyed it. Could of been better of course, but overall it was enjoyable.
I'm so tired of the orange/teal color scheme in every Hollywood blockbuster. So uninspired! This is no different. Besides the color scheme, the visuals look oddly low-budget for a blockbuster. One last thing is that I think they groomed Wolverine a little more with every consecutive movie. They should have made him look more grizzly like in X-Men part 1. He just doesn't look as dangerous as he used to. Maybe that's just me though. The new trailer looks badass.
What the hell is Fox doing with the X-Men universe? Isn't Jackman confirmed to be doing Days of Future Past, too?
Apparently Fox, wanting to juice out everything before Marvel reclaims it, is making two separate trilogies from the original trilogy. The Wolverine is continuing from X-Men Origins: Wolverine (although I'm not sure if they're making Wolverine 3) while Days of Future Past is second from the trilogy that started from First Class.
Pretty sure the order is Origins, X-Men, X2, The Last Stand, The Wolverine, chronologically. And Days of Future Past has already cast Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Ellen Page, and several others from the original trilogy - they were separate up until then.
This is getting a lot of good-to-great reviews, looks like we might have a winner. Chronology: XM: First Class X Origins: Wolverine X1 X2 X3 The Wolverine Days of Future Past But personally I prefer to act like X3 & XOW didn't happen. It looks like they're using Days of Future Past (with the time travel aspect of that story) to try to rectify the fuck ups they made with X3 & X Origins Wolverine. So they may go on to do a new movie or two with the original cast, continue with the First Class cast, & they've announced plans to expand into other films with X-Force & Fantastic Four. Bryan Singer is back, and so far he's the one who's been involved in the good X-films (X1, X2 & X First Class) so that's a good sign.
