When you want to listen to albums by artists that you haven't heard before, it's best to listen to them in the chronological order. Or at least it makes sense to me.
Just listened to ABL again.. Still not impressive. Generic to me at best.. And like I said before on this thread, I don't like Jared's screaming, and his growling is nasty.
If you don't like Jared's over-the-top vocals, go check out 30 Seconds to Mars! He doesn't raise his voice in that album, but it's very grungy. But then again, it's REALLY good late 90s/early 2000s rock! If you prefer more electronic-influenced rock, check out This Is War! Although not only does Jared slam the vocals alot, a 74-piece vocal choir does aswell!
Well, you know what I mean, he doesn't go over-the-top like he does nowadays. Comparing the entirety of 30 Seconds to Mars to A Beautiful Lie, there's a noticeable difference! From "So I run, and hide and tear myself up, start again with a brand new name..." "Buddha for Mary, Here it coooooooooomes..." To "FROM YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTERRRDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
All of 30STM's albums sound very different and that's why I like them. They aren't the most creative writers or the best musicians, but their music is so different and out there that they don't have to be.
Yes. Indeed. That's why LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS didn't disappoint me, even though I don't like it - I know the next effort will be completely different.
You're entitled to your opinion and all, but Jared Leto isn't a dick. He's very interactive with the fans, which is why he did this. Is this a good idea? No. Does that make him a dick? No. He just tried to get the fans involved in a stupid way.
He has such a big ego that he asked fans specifically tattoo his own work onto their bodies for a lyrics video... It's ignorant and egotistical to say the least. In addition, not only do you have to film yourself getting the tattoo but you must declare your allegiance to the all powerful Echelon while you permanently mark your body for the pleasure of Mr. Leto and his wonderful army.
