(If this has been discussed previously than close the thread) I'll start: They have technique no doubt about it, especially in songs like "black heart". their melody in their songs is great i think mostly cause of Chester also they had a long history of music and yet they can inhibit a similar sound from around 15 years ago. negatively i can't listen to one of their songs more than once, don't feel the energy of their music even though it seems plainly obvious that energy is there. and the bridges don't feel significant to the song eg. hear the bridge in "same on the inside". obviously these are just my opinions, want to hear your oppinion:
If I were to look at it from an LP view, of course I would say I love it because Chester is in it, but in general, all 5 tracks on the EP are simply amazing! I have listened to them everyday since the leak and am definitely buying them. Its a fresh sound, but at the same time reminds me of DBS so its not something that's gonna polarize me.
I'm really happy for Chester and the whole STPCB series of events seems to be a generally positive occurrence for everybody except Scott Weiland, but as they say, you reap what you sow. Anyway, STPCB as a musical act? In my not-so-professional opinion, they don't do much for me. Their songs just simply are boring to me and not that fun to listen to. I realize that I'm probably in the minority here, but hey, what's a fan forum without controversial opinions, am I right?
I haven't listened to the EP yet and don't really have any plans to. I'm pretty firmly in the "don't care" column.
I was already an STP (casual) fan before Chester joined. A classic 90 rock act who have made some legendary records back then. As Chester put it out, they have that groovy sexy rock'n'roll vibe, which I'm really into.
Couldn't care less about pre-Chester STP. Will listen to Chester stuff. If I like it, I'll listen, if I don't, I won't.
I feel like while the EP is very good, every song lacks that certain catchy hook that Linkin Park has mastered (and even most of Out of Ashes). However Chester's vocals are brilliant here.
I slightly changed the title, since we are mostly "LP fans" and moved this thread to the Side Projects forum.
Well I liked Same On The Inside, mainly for the lyrics, the second verse at least. The rest are a bit boring to me but maybe I'll start to like them the more I listen. As for STP without Chester, I'm 16, wasn't around, if I was I probably wouldn't like this EP, but I'm a casual fan of their old stuff, Core is a very good album.
I'm a big fan of the old STP, but High Rise is really disappointing and generic. And I don't blame Chester at all for that, I think the whole thing feels very rushed. I was listening to some Grey Daze, and I've been hoping we could get THAT from CheSTP.
