Don't have to feel too bad; I've seen a TON of school life-y anime (ranging of course from the famous CLANNAD to the virtually unknown Haruka's Secret), but I've seen next to nothing of what are considered the definitive anime series that everybody has seen. I just finished watching Cowboy Bebop tonight, and then plunged straight into Samurai Champloo. Just one episode in and I think it's totally phenomenal...and reminds me a lot of Tarantino.
I've heard that show "Michiko and Hatchin" is also Tarantino-esque, maybe unsurprising since the studio behind it has also worked on Samurai Champloo. I've been meaning to watch both. I started watching "Kill la Kill" today and have found it to be pretty interesting animation-wise. Any Fall 2013 titles you guys are watching?
Golden Time for me, but that's it so far. I have such a long backlog of stuff I have to see that I don't think I'll ever catch up with the present.
Not really, no. I was meaning to start watching Kill la Kill also. I did watch the Pokemon: The Origin and it's pretty good.
Ah, that looks really interesting! I'll start watching that after I catch up tomorrow. I've got Little Busters! Refrain, Log Horizon, and Noucome alongside Kill la Kill to watch. I can't say I've heard of that, but based on what I'm reading, it's not related to the current anime so now I'm intrigued! Damn straight we're interesting.
Golden Time "first impressions" (not really, hence the quotations): http://hoppedonpop.com/2013/11/12/short-but-sweet-4/ (#3)
If you've read the manga or light novel, understand when I say that the anime is essentially Sparknotes for the manga. Really really compressed.
Even so, it's really fucking good (in my humble and easily impressed opinion ). I'm far more interested in reading the manga now, if the anime really is that compressed.
Yeah, I watched the anime first and then I've recently started the manga. It's not radically different, but things are way more fleshed out, such that I'm surprised I understood anything that was going on at all in the show without it.
So apparently Initial D is coming to an end. It has already ended with the last volume of the Manga series published, but there's a Final Stage and a feature film planned for 2014. The one and only Anime that I've ever followed through is to be formally ended before I go to college. WOW..
Been getting into alot of anime recently. Watched all of these in the past few months: Akira Elfen Lied Highschool Of The Dead Fist Of The North Star Black Lagoon The Judge Death Note Bleach I used to watch Dragonball Z quite alot too.
Started to watch some recently. Finished the following (Anime): Attack on Titan Guilty Crown Evangelion
