MTV has uploaded an interview with Chester Bennington along with a free stream of the entire RECHARGED album on their site. Chester discusses how this recent album is less of a remix album, but an inspired reinterpretation of songs from LIVING THINGS that provide as a logical continuation of Linkin Park's identity as a "genre-less band." Read below for quotes from the article or click HERE for the full article.

Is there really a lot of variety on "Recharged"?

Also ... sometimes, a remix album is just a remix album.

I'd call M. Shinoda's remixes reinterpretations (well, mainly the COG one), but the rest are mainly just EDM/Trap influenced remixes...

Also, while I love that the band loves venturing off into odd, unexpected territories... is it too much to ask for a more focused album regarding style and theme for LP6? :/

    I... don't feel good...

Sorry, just had to do that.

    Edit:

    So...
    Recharged = Reinterpretation
Reanimation = Not (but "reinterpreted by...")?

    ... *facepalm*

Ironically, I'd say Recharged is a more focused/cohesive/whatever you wanna call it-album than the original. Not only that, but song-structure wise, Recharged feels more interesting to me.

With that said, I wouldn't go as far as calling this a re-interpretation. Then again, does it really matter? No.

Definitely going to agree with the song structure piece. I really hope Mike utilizes the structures he used for the COG "reinterpretation"

I think it's the opposite. It's a remix album, not a reinterpretation. Despite the fact I loved Recharged, a remix is a remix, it doesn't have that level of deconstructing and re-constructing Reanimation had, where songs were pretty much broken apart and re-written.

It's not a reinterpretation, it's not an awful album, and it is a remix album.

A remix album with few good remixes doesn't make it a reinterpretation. Let's be honest.

    AHAHAHAHA!

Honestly I don't think it's utter crap, but it IS a remix album plain and simple. But MTV loves Linkin Park. I think this is a 7/10 remix album. Reanimation was 10/10 but honestly that album is kind of an anamoly when it comes to mass remixes. (Remember Limp Bizkit's remix album? Yeah...)

Sometimes the gushy reviews go a little far. Most of these remixes would smash the dancefloor in capable hands but are not smashing a whole album of gems from someone like Zedd.
