HBO's True Detective (Season 1 WRAPPED) Any one of you seen the pilot yet? It was great. Sets the ambiance and setting perfectly. I usually don't invest on new shows anymore but I'm ready to for this one.... that's a testament to how much it hooked me. Also digging the flashback/forward narrative structure.
Definitely very intrigued by this show. Just finished the first episode. Looks like it's going to be a bit slow-going but McConaughey and Harrelson are doing a great acting job.
Alexandra Daddario in True Detective... Oh my Lawd! Can't tell yall how much I've been wanting to see those magnificent tits! Praise the lawd!
It's actually kind of impressive that an HBO series went that long without a sex scene, haha. That was an unusual amount of restraint. But yeah, that chick is so gorgeous that I find it hard to believe she'd ever sleep with Woody Harrelson, but it is fiction. The show is a slow burn, but I kind of prefer it that way. Rust seemed like the typical "tortured soul who has psychic-like ability to solve ornate murders" type of character at first, which we already get enough of on Hannibal. McConaughey plays it with so much more nuance, though. It's cool to see the cracks in the seams develop more gradually as opposed to the writers constantly hammering the viewer over the head with how unhinged he is.
Okay now that I have chilled down from seeing Alexandra I can talk about Matthew Mcconaughey's performance. He is just incredible in this show so far. This character in anyone else's hands would probably come off as cliched but Mcconaughey completely made this role his. From the mannerisms, to the way he stands... everything defines this character for me. He's doing a brilliant job. Gotta give props to Woody too... they make a great pair here. Next season they are getting a new pair of detectives. I wouldn't mind seeing Emile Hirsch play a rookie detective.

Spot on about the flaw with Hannibal and how this show gets the upper hand on that term. Imo this is above and beyond Hannibal.
This show is getting better and better. They don't make the big moments too over the top and I love it for that. Everything is played very downbeat for the most part. This week's ending... holy shit! First show I'm hooked on post-Breaking Bad. That's a big thing.
Holy fuck, last night's episode was incredible. It looked like the last scene was done in one take, which just ratcheted up the tension so much.
Ok this show just raised some bars! The whole last segment is some of the best direction I've seen done for TV ever! Fuck!
This show keeps exceeding expectations week after week. Btw, I don't know how more of LPA aren't watching this! This is THE show to watch right now.
Cohle lost me with his philosophy on last night's episode... He was the logical one, and with the whole space/time theory kinda messed it up.
