Hey guys, I came across a new band by the name of Riverline on youtube, they are very clearly inspired by LP (particularly their old nu-metal style). I listened to some of their songs on their youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv3K9esYV6oMQJWZiRnYeVw , they also have a soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/riverl1ne and a main page at vk.com/riverline for updates) and was amazed! I would like to point out that I am not a member of the band pretending to be a fan ( you can find my comments on their vids on youtube if you're that suspicious.) These guys really bring home the old LP style with a fresh new vibe, I know I'm not alone when I say I miss those older songs LP made in their glory days (songs from Hybrid Theory and Meteora) such as Numb, In The End, By Myself etc. I think they have some great potential if they stay committed to their work and persevere, they have some great beats that need vocals and it would be a waste to leave them as instrumentals only (LP had very awesome instrumentals like Basquiat , Omnious and Cumulus that I think would be amazing if they had lyrics). So what are your thoughts and opinions and what do you think of them in general?
I wish that they would put vocals in their songs but i am with you on missing the old lp songs. I like Riverline because they remind me of those days.
"Like Linkin Park?" will probably go down as the most redundant question in the history of this site. "Na, Linkin Park suck. I'm just here for the pie."
No, what's that? As far as the band goes, they're basically what Flymore is to Korn. Some people might dig a Twonkie, but it just ain't the same as a Twinkie. That's what makes Ho-Ho's and Fudge Rounds so good, they don't try to emulate Twinkies, they're just they're awesome selves.
Way to assume we're all men. Sexist. Congrats! Here's a cookie. Nu-metal died a decade ago. Let it rest. Man, I've been missing those simplistic power chords and angsty lyrics about how much life sucks. I mean no offense to you, but nu-metal and all of its children should stay dead. Move on. Let go.
I'm sorry, but there's a point in time where as an artist, you have to do something unique that totally represents who you are. This Riverline band fails to do that. The only way I would think this would be good is if it was a side project from one of the members of Linkin Park. I get that they are influenced and all, but, there is a fine line between being influenced and straight up plagiarism. I feel this band crosses that line. They should change their name to The Shia Lebeoufs.
A song titled ''Drawing'', with just strings and weird kick drums? A song called ''Megatron''? I mean, the guy(s) try, but this is basically Linkin Park demos.
I like this. Even if there is no creativity whatsoever, it sounds good to my ears. Generally, all those old-LP copycats have been ruined with some pretty bad vocals IMO. This don't have ones and it's a good thing in my book, because those instrumentals are nice Somehow, I'm sure you like pretty simplistic music too
1. The word 'guys' can be gender-neutral in this context, so I was basically saying "Hey everyone", its happened many times before where its been used to refer to both genders, look it up if you don't believe me. 2. I love how you assumed that I haven't "moved on" from nu-metal music, just goes to show you can't really know someone on the internet. I like the direction LP is heading and one of my favourite songs from them is When They Come For Me, I find it to be a powerful track. I do admit to enjoy listening to their older stuff more at times (Meteora is my favourite album) but that doesn't mean I really "thirst" for their old sound. I like Riverline because they remind me of the old LP sound yet their tracks sound uniquely theirs. These songs they make I feel are more electronic and have more variety than LPs old music did (If you go to their vk page and check out their other music you will see what I mean).
Fine, but how is that related to my comment? The bottom line was that simplistic music doesn't equate bad music. You more than probably enjoy even one single song with a simple guitar riff or a simple beat or a minimalistic instrumental or whatever. I don't need to know you personnaly to say that.
