Anyone know how to get the song if I payed for the album as part of one of the ticket packages? Should I just buy the single again in iTunes?
I have a feeling that LP will release another single before the album releases, or possibly a song from T4. There's still 3 months until the album releases so i'm pretty certain. LP have never released a single this early before the album, and they barely did any promo.
I doubt it's going to be a hit because it's not really mainstream material. It can do well in modern rock though "Burn It Down" was their last big hit because it had pop appeal. "Lost in the Echo" had chances of being well in modern rock radio while "Castle of Glass" had crossover potential; all these were ruined by Warner's crap promotion. "Guilty All the Same" has a thundering guitars, a usual LP message and thrashing drums. Rock radio can embrace that, while it has a slim chance at mainstream radio, because, well, this kind of rock doesn't have a larger audience anymore, no matter how awesome it sounds. As a guy who listens to a lot of mainstream music, I know. Then again, it can be one of the few exceptions that become radio hits, so I can be wrong.
Don't use Venezuela as an example for the song's performance. People here rarely buy legal music so I was surprised it even got to #1 in the first place. Also, our iTunes functions with USD and we have currency exchange control, meaning only a small portion of people are able buy music there, heck I haven't been able to buy the song myself because of said control (I already used my yearly allocation). The reason for its fall is most likely due to the fact that the people who buy legal music already bought the track.
Do we even know if this is the "new single" and not just a preview song? There's a difference, Korns 'Love and Meth' was a preview song that even had a video but wasn't released as an official single and never charted. This could be the same deal.
This is definitely a single and not just a preview song. Unless the band was misleading in calling it a single and used the wrong terms. Who knows
What they're doing is releasing this early to get a feel if it's popular and if so, their next record will be similar. If not they'll put out an extension of Living Things. See, they wrote TWO albums but they're only gonna release one of them based on specific conditions. Yep. Totally not reaching. Or sarcasm.
A lot of artists do it nowadays, even some rock bands. I expect it to happen with the huge gap in all honesty.
I predict this will be a legit single with a music video...with probably another track being released in May before the album comes out. GATS was likely intended to get the band back on people's radar, and to inform people the band is working on a new album. Hence why it's out so early.
For me this single is just a single to promote the next single, that will be the real lead single of the new album. SINGLECEPTION
I don't know why people give a shit about how well a song does on the charts. If YOU like it then what does it matter?
