I'm seeing a pattern with the song titles, tour (and possible album) title, and possible lyrical content. I think the album is going to have large overtones of corporate greed, environmental overconsumption, corrupt governments and war. They already covered that stuff with ATS, but did so by telling the story of the world crashing down. This time around, I can see them addressing these issues with more of a punk attitude within the songs, and maybe a different take on a concept record. Less interludes, more rock and roll that's more intense and has the emotion right in your face, rather than slowly building up to certain moments as it was in ATS.
My guess (hope) is that the songs' drum patterns are so complex and the guys have so much faith in Rob as a player, they are forcing him to perfect these parts. I think Rob is up to the challenge and is the best instrumentalist in the band, and he'll prove it on this album.
Let's not get carried away, there is absolutely nothing that you learn of a song by it's title, especially for Linkin Park.
"Mark The Graves" definitely has a Brad Solo ("BD solo final?" in the notes) and is the most interesting name to me.
Yep! An I personally love GATS as a song title. Only one I don't like is the potential "Until It's Gone." Sounds too much like Until It Breaks which was just on the last album.
I find it funny that Linkin Park had a huge announcement about partnering with Microsoft's Project Spark today, and all the fans care about is a list in the background of a completely unrelated video.
it just seems bizarre that drums are written on most the songs, i doubt it would mean that most were done, so i assumed it was something that would need working on. maybe it's a case that the drum beats just needed to be added to the samples of the other parts of the songs? do we know whether the lyrics were the first thing to be written or the tune first on this album or was it happening at the same time?
This album cycle is so different. The hype for this album is so high, at least for me. BID was a decent lead single but, personally, GATS blew it away. The guitar solo, the drumming, then there is the fact that it features a collaboration with Rakim and possibly other songs also have collaborations, the carnivorous tour with 30 STM. It's like the band is going all out this album in every possible way. If I recall correctly, Chester had mentioned how Rob blew his back out while perfecting the drumming for GATS. Maybe, he had to take a small break until he could go all out again in the recording process.
