You misunderstood...it isn't fake just because it 'was removed'. It's fake because it's not the real tracklist and the album will not have that tracklist.
The thing to take away from this is that Derek knows the tracklist, or is privy to someone who confirmed it was false.
Instead of LPA playing the "is it real or is it fake" rumor game...we will only post the tracklist when it can be verified via official sources. We are not going to make a news post for every fake tracklist. Meaning that when you finally see a tracklist on here and posted? It's going to be THE tracklist.
If I knew why Warner Switzerland posted an inaccurate tracklist I'd be the first to tell you guys. Your guess is good as mine.
I'd like to make a motion to elect a new LPA motto: "We don't post crap for news. Except on April Fool's. Fools."
Maybe Derek is under an NDA via Warner Bros and it only allows him to confirm negatives. Ie, what the album tracks are not.
I guess we should get the official tracklist in the upcoming week. That's gonna add up to the hype:-D
If it's a fake tracklist, then it's a good fake. There's nothing on there that triggers any "this is obviously fake" alarm bells for me.
http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24532&p=1293967&viewfull=1#post1293967 Can we just move on now? I received verification that it wasn't real. I didn't even want to go this far to say that, but since people are content to talk shit on me via another site (not on here), I am left with no choice. What Joe said in the post I linked and responded to...is exactly the case. Incredible. It's like we're getting criticized for having journalistic integrity and refusing to post unconfirmed news.
I understand your point, Derek and I'd also like if we could move on from it but I don't think you can blame people for wanting evidence and sources and definite proof that it's fake. I mean, I believe you know it's not true but that doesn't make it logical to actually believe it when highly suggestive evidence implies otherwise. I don't think anyone is in the wrong here, it is what it is. I don't think it's wrong for people to question things either. Just saying. Again, I understand you're under stress and I think that stress is completely justified, but what can you do?
I didn't even think anyone needed to provide evidence or name sources. Just saying "sources" is more than good enough, especially when it's Derek. I just don't think responding to people by saying "it's fake because it isn't real" is helpful to anyone. But now we know.
Just to clarify some other erroneous information I'm seeing passed around. My comment about the "is it real or fake game" was not a jab at another fansite, or the way they post news as it has been suggested. Instead it was a tongue-in-cheek reference to a certain news thread on our site where we debated the legitimacy of a Best Buy entry for the band's 5th album, which ended up being horribly fake: http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35767. Because of the mystery of the LIVING THINGS album cycle a few rumors were posted on here, and shortly after that cycle came and passed, we decided to adopt a hard line against posting unconfirmed news on LPA...unless it could be heavily supported by several reliable sources. This is a policy we carried over into The Hunting Party album cycle as well. According to at least one person elsewhere, this policy makes us "stupid" because "rumors boost traffic", but it's something we stand by. Apart from April Fools Day, we really don't want to post news we can't at first confirm ourselves via official means. Does that mean we find any fault in other fansites if they post rumors? Absolutely not. It's just something that we choose not to do. We try our hardest to get along with other fansites and work together, and as much as people may want to manufacture this idea that there's a big fansite war, they're simply looking for a grudge that isn't there. We have no problems with any fan sites, whatsoever. In defense of our earlier choice: When this tracklisting was removed from that Warner site, we knew there had to be a good reason for that and felt it was best not to post it, even if it meant us being slow to the "party" (/pun) if the information turned out to be legitimate. Apparently some people outside of the LPA weren't fond of that decision, but knowing now the tracklist wasn't completely accurate, I am relieved we decided to stand by our guns on this one.
