It sounds really, reaaally "flung together", for lack of a better description. The rapping's not great, the screaming is fine but "VICTIMIZED VICTIMIZED NEVER AGAIN VICTIMIZED" are like almost Korn-tier and thus offputting, it's just a jumbled mess.
First you say that Living Things has some of the best song LP wrote, and they you go and say that In Pieces and LOATR are weak. What the...?!
Opinions. I enjoy ALL the songs on LT (although I'd throw away IBG), while those three are just annoying. BIO is good live, though.
I don't think those are mutually exclusive - you might enjoy the heavier songs on "Living Things" and hold the opinion that "Leave Out All The Rest" is "weak". That makes sense to me.
Heavier songs on LT are fine (first half). Second half is brilliant. LOATR is poorly written, and honestly... it's a regular pop rock song.
You could say that about Roads Untraveled or Powerless as well... Okay, I'll give you LOATR, but In Pieces? That thing is brilliant.
RU and Powerless are both very powerful tracks (ironic, yeah), and I feel like they're really well written. In Pieces is weaker than most tracks instrumentally, without the solo. I'm not a big fan of the way he sings it, the lyrics nor the chorus. And the solo is just... while I give Brad an applause for trying... misplaced.
Drumming to In Pieces for me is reminiscent of when I first started drumming to papercut. I think that's why I really like it, in combination to the words, and chesters voice.
I actually think Meteora is worse than LT. But i accidentally pressed LT - Since it is the only LP Album i don't actually own. With that said I still like both of them. LT has some great songs just feels kind of underwhelming after ATS and the reason I didn't buy it was because the first single BID is (IMO) one of the most generic songs LP has ever made. Meteora well.. It is a worse version of HT but it still has some great songs(+ nostalgia) and instrumentals, while the lyrics are quite silly sometimes.
Kind of surprised Living Things is winning (losing?) this poll. At least it was still somewhat experimental and creative. Meteora is just generic and boring with terrible lyrics.
the fact that they made Living Things after ATS where they grew as musicians and songwriters gives it more negative points...
Me, I'm always making fun of nu-metal LP fans. I love Hybrid Theory & Meteora because they are special to me and will always be in my heart, but nu-metal as a whole was horrible and I'm glad it's dead.
Voted MTM. I just cannot bring myself to listen to more than 1 or 2 tracks on the entire album. Definitely the low in LP's discography for me. Also..... ATS >= HT > LT > M > MTM
