Hi guys, So I've recently just found out LP had played a live tune back in their Hybrid Theory days, apparently referred to as "Be Yourself", the audio of a performance of it can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLKkrDxaRck I really like this tune, it's simplistic but feels emotional, especially with the way Chester sings "be yourself". Fellow LPA member blackout. cooked up a remake of it on his soundcloud (it has no vocals in it though). I would really like to see this tune be made into a full song or incorporated into one. So this got me thinking about all the snippets of audio of demos and tunes LP have made that haven't been recognised, and I (attempted to) incorporate the original first verse (found in one of the LPTV episodes) of the song blackout into the track, it can be found here: https://app.box.com/s/lsbr42t3iviqb8x0l33g This was to give you guys an idea of the kind of thing I would like to see more of, people taking such rare samples and incorporate them into songs, or take demos like Basqiuat (one of my personal favourites) and add vocals or implement it into a song. So of these types of things LP have made, which ones do you think should be made into something more? What ideas for mashups/extended versions/remixes etc do you think would work with the lesser known tunes?
Been a while since anyone's mentioned that. They played that jam at Rock AM Ring in 2001 as well.
Be Yourself was probably a leftover Hybrid Theory-era demo that never got vocals on it. Chester's singing over it on that particular recording was just improvised, but it's pretty obvious that Rob/Brad/Phoenix "know" the song, so they had to have worked on it to some extent. Some people think it's actually Pictureboard, but I doubt that, since Chester has a co-writing credit on the BMI entry for Pictureboard, so he should have had lyrics to sing instead of just making them up if it was the same song.
It's so cool to see video with this... I picked up a bootleg CD of this set back in 2001. I listened to it so freaking much.
Absestos. I love the punk feel of it. I imagine that's what some of The Hunting Party will sound like. Too bad they never made the chorus(it's obvious that vocals should be there)
https://soundcloud.com/jackfarrell/lp-demos Some of the ATS b-sides have shitloads of potential. My favourite is Sono, which plays at 3:30. ALSO FLORIDA, holy shit Florida is epic. Grudge too.
All of those clips were sounds included in the Stagelight: Linkin Park Edition. Pretty fun to play around with them. I actually used a few of the Sono stems to make a little demo, here's the link: https://soundcloud.com/hybridtheory360/demo-alpha-through-the-clouds
Yeah, you're right, some of these are even seeds, they don't even have any proper background noises in them, there's a lot of other songs there that I didn't include, like Chicken Basket, Quense, Shortcut or Seahorse.
Grecian sounded dope. Definitely reminiscent of the 2006 songs they released ("Announcement Service Public" and "QWERTY")
Yes, I made a remake of Be Yourself and you can find it on my SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/blackout-12/linkin-park-be-yourself-remake. This is just a demo for now, but maybe I will do final version of it, when I will have a time.
Um, I don't recall that ever being confirmed by anyone. Brad said that the demo to Given Up was called Fire In The City.
I was so hooked on that tune that I took the time to scour the internet for a more fuller version, and finally found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bV7yBVdxewY That version was still a bit short though. I found the seemingly full version a while ago but can't remember where, so I uploaded it here: https://app.box.com/s/f4po2cv54hcoyiahgpfq I really wish they made this into a full song, the melody is just so wonderful.
