Awesome song! Really cool opportunity to the members of Beta State. Great look behind the scenes of it.
Nice to see Linkin Park feel genuine about helping another band gain some notoriety. What an honor to take lessons and advice from such an established band like Linkin Park. The members of Beta State seemed humbled and gracious for the opportunity, so I am happy for them. In other news, also excited to see a new LPTV episode posted. Maybe we'll see them more frequently and we can start seeing the band in the studio?
Nice lptv. Only question is, why are we just getting this now? Like I know LP is usually a few months late with these, but more than half a year? In the midst of all this THP hype? The hype train has taken an unexpected route.
They're the band that gave mike the ipod with their first album on it because they looked up to linkin park, this must be the dream for them, not only are they making music but they got to work with Linkin Park and gained fans from being mentioned on the blog. That must be awesome
So the lesson to take from this is: give Shinoda a free iPod if you want a leg-up in an LPU competition.
Wow, Red Bull Studios is alot smaller than I thought! How did Awolnation manage to fit a choir in there?
The guy's vocals reminds me of Leto's. His singing style for those high pitch portions are kinda very similar to how Jared Leto would do it. Guess they wanted to restrict the THP videos so that they wouldn't be forced to put out some video with another song. I mean, they are bound to run out of videos of just UIG and GATS. So they are probably saving videos like these for that.
Hmm, it's just occurred to me that Mike was talking about beta state on his blog almost three years ago now. I guess you could say it's hard to lose a competition when you've already won by default.
Wow, that post came into my mind a few weeks ago. Had no idea that band was Beta State... and am I the only one that can't stand the band?
I've bitched about this before, but I also feel like they didn't follow the "can't have been previously signed to a major label" rule with this contest either, or they were at least VERY lenient about their definition of it. Half of the members of Beta State were previously in the band Strata, which released two albums on Wind-Up Records. Even Ryan Giles (who I feel has gotten shit on throughout this entire process because all of the press regarding the contest winners focused almost entirely on Beta State, even though there were TWO winners...bet he doesn't get an LPTV episode!) has professional-level experience in the industry, he co-wrote a song on Fuel's Angels & Devils album.
