That's probably the best description I've read on that album yet. It really does feel like a Chris Martin solo album. Not to mention the album minus Magic and ASFoS is pretty depressing to me. There's just a serious lack of utilizing the other band members, none of them do anything significant on this album, unless you count that short True Love solo which I thought sounded really out of place. It's mainly just Chris Martin singing some cheesy lyrics about how much his ex wife is a sky full of stars, and when it's not cheesy lyrics it's depressing sad stuff. It doesn't feel like an album for the fans, it feels like an album for Chris Martin. It almost feels like I shouldn't be listening to it. I think the worst part is that unless we get an EP, we might have to wait another 3 years for the next album. I really hope GATS and UIG are the worst songs on the album.
Kind of have to agree with the previous reviews of Ghost Stories, sadly. I stopped listening to the album halfway through, and I was pretty excited about it when it first started. Coldplay always were one of my favorites due to their intricate layering and atmosphere in their songs. These tracks feel naked in comparison. Like someone appropriately said, it's a Chris Martin solo album. It's as if Chris stayed behind in the studio and made the album himself while the rest of the band went around the corner to have a pint. Disappointing. First Coldplay album I'll likely not buy.
I have yet to listen to Ghost Stories in full, but ironically, this was the first time where Coldplay didn't build their songs around Chris' ideas, contrary to the past, where they did. A lot of the ideas for the songs came from members other than Chris. If anything, it isn't a "Chris Martin Solo Album." But like I said, I haven't heard it yet, so I can't properly judge it, just based on a radio interview.
Clearly, you haven't listened to "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" Really, though, like with any music, stuff is not for everyone.
You think abbreviating album and song titles is annoying? You haven't talked to my cousin who thinks she's all "thug" and shit. Zhe talkz lyk th1z. -_-
No kidding. She's almost in her 30s and thinks typing shit likes that makes her cool. It's embarrassing as all fuck. One of those people who thinks they're tough shit, but if they swatted a fly, it'd fucking die from laughter, rather than impact.
I hear you guys about the new Coldplay. I don't claim to be an expert on them, as I've only heard 4 whole albums (this'n included), but it was disappointing. When Midnight came out, I thought it was cool. As more songs came out, I just felt, meh.
I think Highly of GATS and UIG. UIG is already my #2 favorite LP song and GATS is top 5. If UIG and GATS are the worst two songs on the album, that means 9 of my top 10 (or technically even 10/10) of my top LP songs could be from THP which would mean its practically a perfect album.
