Until It Breaks beat any rap verses from Meteora(IMO) - BID and Lies Greed Misery on the other hand... Eeh. Oh and the Victimized rap is amazing. Sometimes I miss the kind of philosophical rap verses from the HT days(like on APFMH, Forgotten, ITE, HV, BM)
Man those lyrics are uninspiring! Having said that though I often zone out and get caught up in a song so the lyrics just go over my head so hopefully if they are the final version they won't bother me!
PEOPLE CALM DOWN. This is probably demo lyrics. The demo lyrics for BID was much worse - And that song actually had some well written verses.
Until It Breaks had a deadly rhyme scheme and I kind of see that coming back with the lyric preview of Wastelands that Derek gave us, or at least in that song. Other than that his half ragga-accented flow is just plain fucking corny and worse than his overly deep voice in Meteora. I actually think his Victimized verse sounds very similar to something from Meteora. The vocals definitely have some kind of effect on them if I'm not mistaken.
From what I could tell in the video, those looked like incomplete/unfinished lyrics, probably indicating a demo or work-in-progress. We shouldn't be jumping to any conclusions based solely on this "teaser". To be fair, some of those lines looked promising to me, such as "victim of a compromise". Also, does anyone think that riff in the beginning of the video was an actual song or just a rough instrumental demo? Can you confirm if this was present on the sampler, Derek?
Truth to be told, I like the Terrified part. If you want to be 100% in-your-face, you have to do it with the lyrics as well. Subtle poetry doesn't always work in those cases.
Along with the number "thousand". burn inside the fire of a THOUSAND suns (The Catalyst) the truth of a THOUSAND lies (What I've Done) ten THOUSAND promises, ten THOUSAND ways to lose (Powerless) heard it said a THOUSAND times (Until It's Gone)
I don't think the lyrics on GATS or UIG are any different than the level LP always puts out. I personally love the GATS lyrics. Anyways, watching them "live" while recording GATS was so badass. I realistically expect (if everything we know for the entire album is true) that this could be a contender for my favorite LP album. The best part is how fucking hyped THEY themselves are about this album. That's a great sign. On a random note, does anyone know if the finalized album art includes the band/album name on the cover? Besides the LP pre-order page, all other music sites still list the plain art as the official album art.
Jeez if you guys think that simple riff Brad is playing at 00:12 is awesome, you're going to shit your pants over THP. He plays a lot better stuff then that on the album.
I also think this will be the best LP album to date. UIG is my #2 and GATS is my #5 for LP songs already. Shaping up to be great! and yeah the fact that the band is hyped is awesome! :whew: thanks for dropping that!
