Sounds like the album I've always dreamed of from this band. So stoked. At the same time I have a strange patience this album cycle. With less than 3 weeks left I feel like I don't need any extra songs released or leaks. However I will certainly lap up whatever ends up releasing/leaking early.
EDIT: Somehow I double posted... Interesting how some people say rapping and screaming make the best LP song. The Little Things Give You Away has neither of that and pre-THP it's by far the best track the band has made IMO.
That's because your opinion of what makes the best LP song is different. I love songs like Castle of Glass and Burning in the Skies but i still prefer the heavier stuff overall. To me the best vocals i've ever heard in my life are when Chester is screaming. I didn't even like screaming before i heard Hybrid Theory when i was 13 and i LOVED Chesters voice in it.
I agree with you. I also see where the other side is coming from, Chester is a brilliant screamer and I honestly think he's been under-utilised a lot. People are excited to finally hear him scream over some heavy shit. Mike also has great flow over heavier tracks (see QWERTY) and we haven't seen much of that at all really.
So, for anyone who heard it, what does A Line In The Sand sound like? EDIT: Nevermind, I read the original post
Oh for sure don't get me wrong, the heavy stuff gets me pumped up like nothing else. Blackout/Lost in the Echo/Victimized/Faint/A Place for My Head/No More Sorrow.Lies Greed Misery are all unbelievably awesome tracks in my books. Chester's screaming is unlike anything in the music industry and I absolutely love that and crave it every album cycle like an addiction. However I also look at songs like Burning in the Skies/Powerless/In Pieces and they just have this simple elegance about them. Screaming and rapping is something I've come to expect from the band. Something like The Little Things is not. Then again considering how heavy The Hunting Party is expected to be, I'm sure screaming/rapping will be far more appropriate. So maybe I'm just talking out of my ass.
It's not that I don't like the stuff that doesn't have rap or screaming in it, but the last 3 records were more based on slower stuff and had less screaming and rapping parts than Meteora and Hybrid Theory which was fine but I think now I came to a point that I'm getting tired of slow songs and the "normal" singing. I think it's time for the band to do some heavy stuff again with more screaming and more rapping something with more energy!! It seems like The Hunting Party will be that way anyways so I can't wait anymore!! (Even if Until It's Gone is the only soft track on the album I really think it wasn't necessary at all)
I'm well aware of that. I don't know why everyone only came to that realization after the acapella was released. I've been able to hear that scream since Living Things was released. Unfortunately that scream doesn't save Skin to Bone from being a relatively forgettable LP song in my eyes. Don't get me wrong people, I'm excited beyond belief for The Hunting Party. I've been waiting YEARS for a full-out heavy album that has also matured with their sound. I just feel like with what Derek and Turtle have said, with over half the album having screaming/rapping I should be more than satisfied. Especially considering Hybrid Theory and Meteora had 5-6 songs with screams each.
