Lovin' Chester and Mikes' deliveries on this. As someone else said Mike's second verse is just dirty man. Fuckin sick.
One thing I've noticed with the tracks is Chester's voice sounds really raw, very reminiscent of Minutes to Midnight. Not too much processing, but it's just "them" out there. And you can really tell the difference between tape/digital. Love it.
The studio version sounds so much more hard hitting. I love this. Also, the Synth-line on the 2nd verse is basically the Skin To Bone Synth-line slowed down.
I downloaded the file through youtube to mp3. The original file size (at least through download) is around 5-6mbps and it's 252kbps. Nothing I believe was converted and mediainfo is telling me 252kbps as well. Program is very accurate.
And the Tinfoil synth is the same high synth used in the verses of Waiting for the End. Borrowing their own stuff isn't new to LP.
In hindsight I realize that sounded pretty silly of me. More like I'm just impressed with Linkin Park making such a groovy rock song.
I have 5 thoughts about the song. 1. Mike's verses are real good. I especially like the first one. 2. I really like both variations of the chorus melody. 3. Compare Chester singing this live to the studio version. Identical. That should really hammer it home that Chester's "different" sounding voice on The Hunting Party is just his natural voice. 4. I like that the tracks seem to mostly blend into one another. 5. This song makes me dislike Until It's Gone even more. When UIG came out, the people who defended the song said "it's the radio song, there had to be at least one." Wastelands counters that argument. This song is more than capable of being a radio single. In fact, the melodies and energy on this song make it, in my opinion, a better single. Until It's Gone seems even more out of place and unnecessary now.
I found a 320kbps link and file size is 7,6 MB, but not sure if it sounds better than youtube version or if it's just the same.
I love the way Chester sings "disappears" in the chorus. Typical call - and - response formula but that's alright. Mike drops some sick ass FM-like lines and the instrumentation and little sounds are nice. The little interludes we are getting are setting this album up great. 8/10. It's a jam.
Talk about "giving out more music" before the album releases. Anyway, instead of being an LPA nuisance I'd figure I'll leave my two cents instead of being useless creating fake reviews of music (whoa Mike's verses have me rapping sentences now!) haha. Mike stole the show. His first verse is definitely up to par with the likes of Until It Break's (this is something for you people...) and he feels more confident and sounds less cheesy. Chester sounded pretty raw in this track. Everything sounds more natural and I'm liking the organic vibe of this album thus far. Fantastic track, glad to hear it in full. Thank you Tiago. 8 5/10 as of my first five listens. Subject to change upon album release.
Everything will sound the same unless it's lossless. It sounds hella good so far but it should sound even better in lossless.
Indeed. mine sounds a bit better than the 320kbps one (it was confirmed to be converted as well through youtube by the guy, also a bit of buzzing through my speakers as the volume sounds too loud). Mine wasn't upconverted or anything (that I know of) and it's 252kbps.
This should have been the first single. This feels like the "When they come for me" record on the album.
