So I listened to Wastelands finally, couldn't withstand anymore. Sounds good so far, though I'm not as hyped about it as about GATS.
I think the ending is very similar to UIG. The title of the song gets repeated several times with increasing energy - has anyone the same feeling?

so thats what i was hearing. glad you said that because it was weird, it sounded way familiar to me and im like 'where is this from'. lol. indeed you are correct.

also im a bit upset because i wanted to listen to this when the album dropped. but its been thrown at me from like 58787628 different directions so i finally broke down and listened to it today. i mean when i get the email from the band just giving me the song for preordering...ugh. life is hard.

anyways i really like the song, the drums are ridiculously good, the guitar is great. mikes verses are legit. chester vocals are like GATS for me, theyre kinda eh. im kinda hoping the rest of the album wont be like this. chester in UIG was pretty solid but idk man. i hope his vocals arent sub par like this for the rest of the album.

Personally now, if anything the energy is decreasing not increasing.

But it practically feels the same throughout the entire song for me.

So Wastelands is doing pretty good on iTunes in the US. #15. Higher than any of the other songs have reached.

when you play "Until It's Gone" after "Wastelands", it feels like crossfaded seamlessly

Maybe that's because they are in that order on the album? :obama:

I actually gave in and listened to Wastelands (literally finished listening to it twice just now). Reason I decided to give it a listen was Warner sent me an e-mail with a download link due to pre-ordering The Hunting Party on Linkin Park's website.

Overall, I do like it; I like Mike's raps, I enjoyed Chester's aggressive vocals especially towards the end of the song and the riff is fantastic. The synths are nice but unfortunately are faded in the background. The bridge sounded interesting but was definitely missing something, maybe Chester or Mike could have done something here.

Nonetheless, still a solid track. 3 for 3 and looking forward to the 13th June (due to me ordering from Amazon.de for the CD/DVD version of the album also).
