I think there's a difference between watching that film when it came out, and watching it for the first time today. It simply doesn't have the same effect, watching it today it feels like every other other "found footage" movie. Back then it was indeed brilliant, this was the film that brought that genre to the mainstream, no multi-million dollar budget, no big-name actors, just imagination. It was never really done before, or at least to that level of success, the film leaves the viewer solely with their own imagination. Yeah, it might seem "cheesy" today, but it's damn successful at being clever and suspenseful.

    Edge of Tomorrow (2014) - 4.5/5

This has got to be one of the biggest surprises of the past few years. The trailers really do not do this movie justice, this movie was excellent. Emily Blunt was freaking fantastic, and Tom Cruise played a character that's relatively different from him, which I found refreshing (He was great too, but you already knew that, it's Tom Cruise dude). The only problem I had with this movie was the ending. If felt a bit cheesy, and felt tacked on, solely for the purpose of having a "happy" ending. The movie should have ended at the climax. Otherwise, a fantastic movie. It's too bad Maleficent and A Fault in Our Stars were out on the same day, they took all of the money. People need to see Edge of Tomorrow.

The only movie where Emily Blunt is a legitimate badass and Tom Cruise is a legitimate pussy.

    22 Jump Street

The movie knew what it was- a mindless movie with over-the-top humor and a not-so-mind-blowing story- and that made the movie pretty great.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) - 3.5/5 - The story was lacking but the visuals constantly kept blowing me away. Every shot in this film could be framed up and hung on the wall as a piece of art. Loved the use of miniatures as well.

Team America World Police - 1 out of 5

Why did I think I needed to fill this particular gap in my pop culture repertoire? There's 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Nice sex though.
