This thread is for those times where you've either introduced or shown the band (music or otherwise) to someone, whether it be your family, friends, strangers, your dog, etc. If you have any funny/great/interesting stories or remember their reactions very well, post them here! It can be one or many stories, and as long as you don't double post, just post your stories away. I'll go first. My parents like MTM and ATS, so when I first showed them THP, they hated it. My mom would give me a puzzling look any time she hears me listen to Keys to the Kingdom, although it's all in good jest. I tried to get her to headbang to KTTK and War just for the fun of it, and it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen this year. The only song she likes on THP, funny enough, is the same song I consider my favorite off the album, Final Masquerade. But yeah, it was great to see the looks on their faces when they first heard "NO CONTROL, NO SURPRISE". I love my parents very much, and this was just one of my ways of bonding with them: showing them the weirdest or craziest things and getting their reactions.
A guy at my work asked what I was listening to. I told him Linkin Park and he went home and listened to it. He said he liked them. No idea what tracks he heard
Anytime I play "When They Come For Me" either around the apartment or in the car, friends will immediately ask who it is. When I tell them, their reactions are always like "WWHHAAAATT? No way!"
There a couple of times when my teacher will be playing Linkin Park during class (yeah my teacher likes Linkin Park. Best teacher ever, of all time) and there will be a few of people actually enjoying the song and they will ask who is it by, then either me or my teacher will say Linkin Park and then they will have disgusted looks on their faces.
Middle schoolers are fucking weird. If you like it, YOU LIKE IT. Why the FUCK does it matter who it's by? "Oh I like the sound of that, but it's by that group, so I hate it."
They (guys in my grade) constantly say to me that Linkin Park sucks, when they're the ones who listen to Lil' Wayne or some shit. Btw, I'm technically a high schooler now
let my friends watch LPTV instead of letting them hear songs from LP. friends think they are amazing people and went to watch all the LPTV videos xD
I showed my dad LGM once. He was stuck on it the whole summer of 2012. I showed my dad CoG when the video came out. He was stuck on it the whole winter of 2012/2013.
My music teacher admitted he had a Linkin Park poster in his bedroom. I showed the girls of my class LP music, and they get into "Iridescent", "Shadow of the Day" and "Castle of Glass", etc., but they can't stand "By Myself."
When I want to introduce LP, people usually answer: 1- Is it that guy who sang Castle Of Glass? 2- You're crazy!!! 3- What the fuck!!! 4- All of their songs sucks except Blackbirds. 5- Why do you listen to LinkinMinkinKingin Park all the time? 6- (Says to the other guy) Don't listen to stuff he listens to. 7- (Updated version of No. 2) They're crazy, You're more crazy!!! 8- (1% of people) Oh I love them. I listened one of their songs when I was a child and I really enjoyed it!!! 9- (0.00001% of people) They're my favorite band! I've been listening their songs since Hybrid Theory!!!
Everyone I know hates them. These people, however, judge their entire discography on the basis of "Crawling" and "Numb".
Way back at school, in 2007 during the time I was obsessing over MTM, I used. "announcement service public" in a video I made in media studies. A friend heard and loved the song, but was shocked to hear me tell her it was LP, she said "OMG is this Lp? It's so heavy!" I was like : "um you've heard One step closer, and paper cut right?" She only new songs like numb, in the end, crawling, and breaking the habit! Ironic really, considering ASP isn't really heavy by most standards
My friend loved breaking the habit and castle of glass. Other friend had listened to their singles I guess. She was genuinely surprised when she listened to ATS. When I told her that it had Brad screaming Spanish into a microphone and that it was Mike that was singing in the requiem(right? That's what I read) she was shocked. She was also surprised by when they come for me and blackout. She loved the album.
