Damn USA lost. And they only gave them 1 minute of extra time at the end (when 5 minutes of extra time was given during their match against Portugal).
Howard played the game of his life when he shouldn't have had to. I know people will be commenting on Howard's performance for years - but a truly good, potent soccer team would not allow for their goalie to continually suffer the wrath of on-goal shots over and over and over again the way that Team USA did. As much love as I have for this team and the heart they had to almost pull a comeback, what they did (or what they didn't do) for their goalie is inexcusable. Belgium is good, but not *that* good. The USA defense must improve, and their midfield is seriously lacking control. They are unable to keep the ball and regulate the pace of games. I love Team USA and I love Tim Howard. I feel so sorry for a man who had to play his heart out just to lose because his team couldn't keep the ball.
This fucking match, holy shit USA's Howard was nothing short to amazing, I have a lot of respect for the guy. And finally, Belgium was playing great. Sure, a lot of chances they created weren't executed well, but they still played amazing. Lukkaku and De Bruyne, killer combo at the end during the extra time. Kompany did also great. So yeah, great game, very tense.
Fuck, that was an intense game! As everybody has said, huge respect to Howard. Next, Argentina. That's gonna be 1986 revenge right here
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/28150945 World Cup 2014: Germany players suffering with flu symptoms Seven Germany players are suffering from flu symptoms, just 24 hours before their World Cup quarter-final against France. Coach Joachim Low said that most had "throat aches" but did not reveal the names of the players affected. "It's too early to make any final decisions about the line-up," said Low. Mats Hummels and Christoph Kramer had suffered with illness earlier in the week, with the former missing Monday's last-16 win over Algeria. Low believes that the travel across Brazil, and different climate zones for their four matches so far - as well as matches in tropical heat, a heavy downpour and then in chilly Porto Alegre - had taken their toll. But he added: "It's not all that bad at the moment. I don't want to dramatise it." shit son :/
Nice one Germany! This is the 13th time Germany goes to the semi-final (4th time in a row). That's impressive !!! I hope Colombia beats Brazil now.
All I care is that Germany's through, but having to play Brazil next I'm more worried about refereeing than the game itself.. Germans still need to improve a bit though.
Yeah, Ozil was really bad imo (hope you read this SUPERXERO ). Hummels did a great job. He makes the defensive more strong, best example you can see it was the game against Algeria. Ozil is a great player, but he doesnt get his skills at the world cup. Schürrle would be a better option imo. Hope Durm and Großkreutz get their chanes too. And the referee at the Brasil game
Also Mertesacker was utter crap vs. Algeria, so slow it was baffling, thank Jesus Hummels was back. And Özil is nowhere near the level he had on 2006 where he became a sensation or even 2010, he takes too long to make decisions and more often than not makes the WRONG decisions. Fortunately as an attacking unit Germany doesn't have as much problems as they have on the back, where there's evidently a lack of options, I was pleased Lahm returned to being a right back, I am not happy Guardiola (and hence Löw) decided to move him to midfield, it's just wrong.
I don't know what is wrong with Ozil. He definitely has talent, but the guy has no passion on playing. Sometimes it's pathetic that the guy doesn't even give a fight. If he wasn't that lazy, he would probably be one of the best players nowadays. He is still good though. Anyway, Germany and Brazil is gonna be a great match. Good thing Neymar won't play, but I don't know if it will matter that much since Neymar was pretty crap in the last two games and didn't make a difference. I would love to see Germany vs. Argentina in the final, but I'm afraid Argentina won't beat Belgium tomorrow. It's hard to depend on two players every time, some day it won't work. Hopefully it works tomorrow, but I'm not confident. Anyway, funny thing: Germany has been in the semifinals for the last 4 World Cups (Counting this one) and in the last three WC they were beaten by the team that ended up to be the champions. So, if Brazil beats them... HA
