Hellboy (rewatch) 8/10: Really underrated comic book movie. I think Guillermo Del Toro did a wonderful job with this. Plus, it's fucking metal as shit.
It's a shame we will probably never get Hellboy 3. They're currently trying to get it greenlit, but who knows? I love these movies. Goes to show how far make-up can go, rather than CGI-ing everything up.
Jeepers Creepers - 1 out of 5 The worst part about the movie is that you spend the majority of your time yelling at the screen. No sensible person would behave the way these kids did, no one. It'd probably also be more terrifying if it wasn't outright laughably bad.
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) - 5/5 A damn near perfect movie. A million times better than The Avengers, which I thought was pretty average. It's genuinely hilarious and takes cliched superhero film tropes and turn them on their heads. The characters all have heart to them and I really got behind them. Chris Pratt was insanely charming! He was like a mix of Han Solo and Indiana Jones and he pulled it off perfectly. Bradley Cooper did an awesome job with voicing Rocket Raccoon, who was another show stealer. Seriously can't say enough good things about this film. I feel like rewatching it right away.
American Hustle (2013) - 4.25/5 Overrated? Perhaps, a bit. But that doesn't detract from the fact this this movie was a well done, engaging film. From the fantastic soundtrack, to the costume design, and the outsanding performances, this movie greatly encapsulates the 70s era. It just doesn't have that "wow" factor to truly make it a remarkable film. Oh, and Amy Adams is drop dead SEXY in this movie. Please, someone give her costume designer an award!
Good Morning, Vietnam (1987) - 4/5 Classic Robin Williams. His improv is brilliant, and he is excellent in his more dramatic scenes. What I admired most about this movie is that it doesn't pull any punches on the realities of the Vietnam War, despite the light-hearted nature of the first half of the film. The movie just seems a bit overly long, and seemed a bit unfocused to due it's subplots. Some plot revelations were also a bit too obvious. I don't like to see stuff coming in a story. Also, it was so weird to see Forest Whitaker at such a young age.
Django Unchained 8/10: Really good, really entertaining. They did not hold back at all which can make you feel uncomfortable at times, but it totally worked. No real complaints other than it wasn't quite as good as Inglorious Basterds but that isn't saying much considering how highly I regard that movie.
Good Will Hunting - 5/5 First time seeing this movie. I've heard about it before and how it's supposed to be this amazing movie.. And it didn't disappoint. All the characters (even the not so important ones) are multi-layered, nothing ever feels forced (except for maybe some of the swearing) and the acting is top-notch. The relationship between Will and Sean is definitely the most powerful part in the movie. The story is also very relatable in many ways and feels genuine, due to the great writing and the performances by the actors, so I think it deserves this score.
Scott Pilgrim vs the World (re-watch), 10/10: Still one of my favorite movies of all time. So original, visually striking, funny, sad, excellent action. Edgar Wright's best movie (Yeah I know he did Shaun of the Dead).
I'm like, that one guy who's never seen an Edgar Wright movie, beyond Scott Pilgrim. I'm a noob, I know.
You haven't seen any of the Cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End)? Do you live under a rock?
