Do you think that Chester is weak on this record?

    Nope Nope.
After hearing THP and going back and listening to vocals from LT, I sorta felt sick given the amount of work they do to his vocals in the albums like LT and before. I love FM because of his raw vocals. He isn't trying to sound more melodic for melody's sake. He isn't using that much post production on his vocals for the sake of aggression. It's all very raw. Like Derek and Minute said, the part where you can almost literally hear his voice crack in KTTK is what gives it such a raw feel to it.
Another reason why I love "The Messenger" from ATS. I love vocals when they are raw. Gives it so much more emotion.

The thing he does at "you're guilty all the same" is so cool.

Man, I changed my mind, I think Chester sounds fine on the record, its the lyrics that are boring.

Anyone else love the vocoder effect on Chester's vocals in Wastelands?
Its very difficult to hear them in the original track, but when listening to the acapella, its pretty mesmerizing.
His vocals on that track are pretty powerful too, but sound weak when you add the instrumental. Same could be said for ALITS.

The only song I think Chester legitimately sounds weak on is Mark The Graves. His final screams are actually fucking terrible.
He sounds like he is struggling far worse on those than he is on Keys to the Kingdom. The instrumental covers that up pretty well.

And most of the songs on "Living Things". But, on that album, even the isolated vocals sound over-compressed and whatever. I described it a few years ago by saying that it sounds like Chester's had the impressiveness sucked out of his voice by the recording process

The vocals on "The Hunting Party", in comparison, sound less-heavily processed, which is obviously appropriate given the band's ethos in recording that album.

Holy shit you're right. It sounds like me when I try to imitate Chester. His voice is giving out and everything. Chester, c'mon.

Yeah, like Broman said, I was listening to DirtyBlup's ALITS remix(pretty cool by the way) and Chester's voice sounded powerful. Wait, was that Chester? Or was it Broman or someone else. Dammit.

No, haha. I did some harmonies for Tony's mix of ALITS. I only "sound" like Chester on a couple songs (if at all tbh), not sure if ALITS is one of em

Broman did all the vocals throughout the album. No samples.

For screams, I think "power" is pretty subjective. Unless we're talking about a hard value like how loud he can be or what pitch he can achieve, screams sound different to different people. I think that the lower screams in MTG, the growly voice in Wastelands, and "WHAT'S MINE" are easier to pull off than something like KTTK, just based on what I feel when I try to scream them (I think I can do the form properly).

That being said, I would call all his vocals strong on the album, save for the chorus of MTG, and ALITS. MTG just sounds like his voice is thinning out as he goes for the higher notes. Everyone's voice does when they try to go really high.

I dont think he is weak. Yes, his voice is changed, but this is normal, he is not 20 years old anymore. Still, he is a great singer in his unique way, reach high notes without any problems and have strong screams. By the change in his voice Linkin Park managed to adapt and make this wonderful THP album.

The production was weak. Not Chester's voice.

Hell, the production on the last two albums have been horrid.
