[Verse 1] Don't You hold your breathe Cause I'm not coming down The battlefields have left me only scars And floating in the dark I'm swimming in the sound Of voices that should never been apart [Chorus] Darker than the blood Higher than the sun This is not the end You are not the only One [Verse 2] Venom on their tongues They paint it on the walls Justice doesn't have the strength to hold The higher that they climb The harder they will fall And we will break their bones until they fold [Chorus] Darker than the blood Higher than the sun This is not the end You are not the only One [Bridge] Ahhhh (ohhh) [Chorus] Darker than the blood (Darker than the blood) Higher than the sun (Higher than the sun) This is not the end (This is not the end) You are not the only (You are not the only one) One This is not the end (You are not the only...) You are not the only one (...One) (Higher than the sun) (This is not the end) This is not the end (You are not the only) You are not the only One
Definitely not blown away on the first listen. The drop is so uninspiring, and kinda ruins it, which is what I was afraid of.
This song doesn't make sense to me... Also, I despise that fading effect. I know it is a popular thing with this type of music, but I do not like it. It resonates inside my skull like the crying of an infant.
It's already in Spotify (and iTunes, I think). For a Steve Aoki song, I expected a huge/memorable drop, but it's kinda underwhelming. The vocals & production are alright overall. This'll probably be my jam soon. I liked the Aoki/Fall Out Boy song better tbh. Wait why is this song premiering in KROQ of all places?
I personally think it's pretty awesome... The instrumental music itself sounds like something you would hear in a commercial, but it works in this song for me. Me gusta
Edit: The word I would is "super-groovy". It's hard to not bounce your head with this one. Sorry I accidentally quoted myself instead of editing
It's a little uneventful until the second chorus, after that the song gets a little more energetic. Overall nothing too special but it's alright. I love how Mike went full pop in the bridge :-D
Haha, Mike! Ah ah ah ah aaaaaaaaaaaaaah And then even autotune kicks in... But all in all not a bad song.
Tbh, and I expected this when I heard the previews...right now it's not doing anything for me at all. Steve Aoki has always been real hit or miss for me, and the thing I don't like about this track is pretty much the one part of the song he probably had the biggest hand in: the instrumental. It just sounds like a standard fare EDM track. There is literally nothing about the beat to set it apart from any of the hundreds of thousands of other EDM songs currently out there right now, or being blasted at Ultra. You could take Linkin Park's voices out of this track, and nobody would be able to tell the difference from other EDM songs. It literally would blend right in, and that's not a good thing. With ALTNC it at least had a beat that was ear catching and "different", probably because it was more an LP track with a guest spot from Steve Aoki, as opposed to a Steve Aoki track with LP on vocals. This track feels like LP just came in and recorded vocals, and maybe a synth line and then did nothing else. Which makes it more crazy when you consider they worked two years on this. You'd think with all that work into it, it'd sound better than ALTNC but instead, ALTNC beats this by a mile imo. Sure the lyrics are better in this, but good lyrics don't always make a good song. Hopefully my opinion improves in time, but right now I give this a C at best. Meh.
