Linkin Park playing a Fort Minor song is technically a cover :)

Really? The ATS era was the worst live era IMO. The band sounded off, the sets were decent at best. The only advantage the ATS era had over the others was The Requiem -> The Radiance (w/ Savio) being a badass intro.

Those shows were downright fantastic if you liked "A Thousand Suns". At one point, all but one or two tracks from the album were included in a single set, plus, there was a distinct "A Thousand Suns"-inspired visual scheme to the shows (distinct for LP, at least) to further set them apart from previous tours.

If you think the performances were "off", well, okay, that's your opinion. I can only guess that we watched different shows from that cycle.

Don't get me wrong, I think some of the shows from the ATS cycle were FANTASTIC. iTunes Festival, Moscow etc. Some great stuff there. However, a lot of the songs were generally pretty poor. WFTE from 2010-2011 was terrible. Blackout has never sounded all that great to me. Faint was pretty mediocre starting at these shows. Crawling, New Divide, and Given Up were starting to just drag the show down etc.

The sets definitely had a lot of ATS stuff, but the encores were my main gripe. I mean, one of the sets had WJL, Iridescent, Shadow Of The Day, In The End, New Divide, Faint as the encore. What a snoozefest. Faint is literally the only good "encore" song in there. Some of the encores were great, but a lot of them sucked. The visuals were A+ though, I'll agree with that. I just think the band was very hit or miss live during that time period, which is funny, because I think ATS is the only album from them that WASN'T hit or miss.

IMO if Mike is the only member of Fort Minor and performs a Fort Minor song, it's a Fort Minor performance regardless of where he is or who else he's performing with (the input of the other LP members on those two songs is also very minimal, it appears that Joe and Rob are the only other two guys on stage with Mike, and Joe's hardly doing anything). No different than Dead By Sunrise performing a couple songs during the LP set at some shows in 2009. It's different when he's dropping Fort Minor verses over Linkin Park songs/mashups like he's done in the past, but that's not the case here. He even changes into a Fort Minor t-shirt during the show for Remember the Name/Welcome.

Just personally, I wouldn't count it as a Linkin Park cover of a Fort Minor song if Shinoda's there performing it.

Well, I won't mind a DBS album, but I am not super hyped for it.

I just said that 'cause some guys here compared this to the MtM and ATS cycles. I mean, a bit of a break and reorientation wouldn't hurt LP, like we've seen in the past! :)
And some new stuff for us in the meantime wouldn't hurt either... :D

Truth be told, as much as I wouldn't mind another DBS album, STP does have somewhat of a DBS feel. Also, I think it'd be a bit hard for Chester to differentiate between where the songs would go now because his two bands pretty much cover all musical ground he seems to be comfortable with.

Wow, I completely forgot about STP. Well, I don't really like their style for the most part, but maybe Chester is going to do something new with them...
Weren't they even recording demos for a new album recently?

DBS was one of the worst things to ever happen to music, and the worst thing to happen to Chester's career.

Some DBS songs were fantastic, especially the balads & slower ones.

Last interview STP had, the band said they had finished 4 songs completely and were working on the rest for the album
