Most experimental/left field music you have listened to Pretty simple as the title suggests. Time to see what wild works of sonic art have entered the ears of this community. I'll start with one of the least popular of the music genre's out there: Lowercase. Introducing, Steve Roden: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMtXaRUMFjg Only rule is to not post embedded videos as too many of them will prevent some users from browsing this page! Eh, it's not really that different. It just seems like your average Ambient track. Reminds me of some minimalistic music I've heard before. I really don't like how you seem to imply that experimental music is inherently bad, or not even music at all.
Maybe I miscalculated what the community's perceptions might be of this initially, I actually imply the complete opposite! OP has been changed as appropriate. Would love to hear what others have come across
Les Friction makes more epic, movie score-like songs. Here's Who Will Save You Now by them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXea1ijrBPo But I listen to more "safe" music, so I guess this isn't even that experimental at all.
I introduce you to the future of metal: Paladins Of The Golden Power Fights With The Great Sword Of Eternal Magic And The Great Kings Will. Just wait until the vocals kick in.
Obligatory Death Grips post. Let's just go through the classics. Incredibly energetic, sometimes heavy as fuck. If I were to put it in a genre: experimental hobo screamo rap.
agreed. on gp is a fucking amazing song however lets be real here, death grips aren't that weird. it's just heavier standard experimental hip-hop w/ shouty vocals. there's a lot weirder shit out there. the vocals just get to people who haven't heard death grips before and are expecting "rap". death grips are just good, nothing that weird or left-field about them, except NOTM. which is weird as fuck, i'll say that
I'm really sure there is some psycho stuff out there, but the most experimental sound I've ever heard was from Nine Inch Nails's Year Zero album. "Me, I'm Not" and "Vessel" sound like no other out there; and they struck me at the core by surprise. Upon first hearing, I was like, this is an alien genre. Alien genres are very interesting and addicting.
I quite enjoy ambient tracks like these, help you zone out. Of the experimental genres out there Noise might be the one which can hurt your brain the most: Merzbow - Magnesia Nova: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifPy5zS8VXY
For me, it would have to be Echoes by Pink Floyd. No words can truly describe the utterly bizarre journey you will take into one of the most unpredictable soundscapes in experimental music (at least I think this is experimental). Just when you're expecting it to end, Echoes does a U-turn and takes you in a totally different direction! This "song" is well over 20 minutes long, so it is anything but typical! All of this is why it is one of my absolute favorite Pink Floyd "songs" to date.
For me, It's "Sit Down, Stand Up (Snakes & Ladders)" by Radiohead. The funny thing about it is during the ending of the song when Thom Yorke said "The Rain Drop" 46 times, it almost sounded like if he was mentioning about Power Rangers lyrically.
I've listened to Wall Noise before. The weirdest music I've enjoyed has to be "At The Heart of it All" by Aphex Twin. (to be fair though I don't delve into weird territory too often, aside from NIN)
Still to this day the best live performance of any song, ever. How did these guys get to open for LP???
