I don't think I'll listen to anything else off the album before it drops. They'll be playing some of it next week. I'm just gonna buy the album when it releases and listen to it when it comes. Ghost Stories was kinda killed for my by the fact I know 7/9 songs when it dropped. Just wasn't as exciting as I wanted it to be. (Love that album, don't get me wrong. Only talking about the first listen experience.)
Up&Up, the closing track to A Head Full of Dreams, and 1 of 2 songs on the album to feature vocals from Beyoncé, will have two guitar solos. One from Jonny Buckland, and the second from Oasis' Noel Gallagher. The song will also have vocals from Gospel singer Merry Clayton, and Chris Martin's children Apple and Moses. http://www.coldplaying.com/upup-to-include-guitar-solo-from-jonny-buckland-and-noel-gallagher/ I must say, this track is shaping up to be pretty damn epic. Can't wait.
Not digging the new single. Sounds way too polished and poppy. Sounds like it won't age very well just like their last couple of efforts.
The Latin American and European legs of the A Head Full of Dream Tour has been announced. https://www.facebook.com/coldplay/photos/a.10150274960980253.534856.15253175252/10156312815280253/?type=3&permPage=1
Coldplay's concert visual images are going to be so on point. Check out how psychedelic this shit is: https://twitter.com/Coldplayvideo/status/668070001224589313
I wish I could say I had any excitement for this album, but I really don't. Not even a bit. AOAL is great, apart from the main riff which gets annoying as shit and is repeated 100 times. It's funny how the "lowkey" cycle for GS had my excitement shooting through the fucking roof, but this "big, grandoise thing" gives me no hype whatsoever.
Don't worry. In about 3 months time, you'll love the shit out of the album, and think it's their best work ever. #ThatsTheSpirit
https://instagram.com/p/-d0g5qHdWo/ Coldplay will be posting previews of the album at hourly intervals on instagram. A Head Full of Dreams has been the only one shown off so far, and it sounds really good. I'm officially stoked for this album now.
I won't pretend that I like the direction they've went since MX, or that I even like AoAL. However, it's just music, I shouldn't care so much. I don't want them to make music they don't want to make. Not everything has to be artsy or experimental, why can't it just be some fun pop music? I think this will be a decent album, even if it's not particularly innovative. Live version of Up&Up? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf8t7u8nB1Y Reminds me of early 2000s Coldplay, great melody. Between that and the snippets so far, honestly, everything else sounds better than AoAL so far. I've went from expecting the worst to cautiously optimistic, that's great. Bring on more snippets, these hourly intervals suck.
Really? That and Birdy are the only songs that I feel are underwhelming (well, haven't heard much of Kaleidoscope yet). I am so excited for this album now.
Based on the short descriptions I've read since the album was announced, I'm most excited for "Hymn For The Weekend" and "X Marks The Spot".
First, the album cover looks like a BMTH album cover ... and, now, all of these songs are blatant BMTH rip-offs. /s
